Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day.
Dianah, that's too bad about the fires. An hour is a long time for rain. Here we have storms for as short as five minutes as they move through fast, but they tend to be heavy rains. If they last too much longer they tend to flood streets.
I'm not a dessert eater although mom was a housewife and we often had dessert growing up.
I use Pinterest quite a bit for recipes. It's odd because I have a huge cookbook collection. They have everything, I can search something random like "beet pesto" and find a recipe.
Nothing much going on. I got my vaccines yesterday and am doing well. I was a bit wiped out last night, and woke up with sweats. I canceled my vet appointment which was a routine visit, but I regret that now as I feel 100% myself with a sore arm.
I woke up at 5:30 and didn't get enough sleep so will take a nap before bowling tonight.
Have a good day.
Gosh, dianah! Earthquake and fire. I hope the fire is controlled soon. Ugh.
I remember helping to organize a "Taste of ______" fundraiser many years ago. They are fun to attend and I guess I hadn't thought of the fact that I don't see them anymore. Maybe the pandemic had an effect on that. But we still have other tasting events for food, beer, wine.
It has been a cool morning and will be a beautiful day. I hope next week is nice, too, since I'm scheduled to take the week off. We talked about what we'll do if the one remaining facility won't take Gma (they think they can, but they want to be able to give her a private room since she hates people. 😑) We'll see if Rose the Gma-sitter would come a few days so we can be free to go load up things from the storage units and all that.
Since all 3 cats are vomiting regularly we are going to try some changes in their food. I wish we could just give them dry food but Turbo can't with her mouth sores. We'd have to sequester her at meals in order to give her wet food and give the boy-cats dry food.
3 vomiting cats, 2 turtledoves, and a partridge in a pear tree? Yikes! I hope their tummies stop rebelling and you don't accidentally step in any of it! I know Tweety has had the 'stepping-in-it' experience with dog vomit. I usually step in dog poop that kinda missed the underpad on the floor, as it is camouflaged because of the pattern on the rug..... or I sit on dog pee when I plop down without looking first. Sometimes Momo is too lazy to get down from the sofa to use the underpad on the floor. It sounds like I have to decorate with chux! But the chux aren't helping IF I DON'T LOOK FIRST before I walk across the den floor or before I sit on the sofa!!
I always read but do not 'believe in' or follow the 'advice' of my horror-scope, but TODAY it said to "really slow down"....soooo, since SiL came to get Nannie, I decided I would just have a pajama day! It is 3:27 PM and I am still lounging in bed. I might end up doing something later, but nothing rigorous, just the usual (and only if absolutely necessary) laundry and maybe washing dishes from last night's supper. Other than that, I am not doing much.... except I may stuff my pie-hole if I start to feel hungry.... but I'm not going out anywhere....except to the mailbox later on. 🤪 What a rebel!
Don't know what the weather is doing today....it looks like it may be hot, and it is slightly overcast with high clouds.
Nannie will probably be brought back in 2 + 1/2 hours, but will have had supper already. I may get some of that supper delivered when BiL brings her home.
So very nice and quiet here right now! Ahhhhhh!
Hi. Went to doc with sis to follow up on her low sodium status. She already limits her water intake (2 cups of tea and a little water to swallow pills). They don't want to prescribe salt tablets, thats she's taken in the past due to her hx of heart failure. So she got another blood draw today. Other sis did get a prescription for salt tablets.
I went with youngest ds to buy a new bed. He is going to finance and pay off quickly to build his credit. And his dad and I are going to give him some $ as a late Christmas gift. Then we stopped for lunch at a little cafe that I like. Walnut apple salad, nom, nom.
I just finished putting paint coat #1 on the 4 interior doors we had installed last Spring. My thumb, that has been sore, is really throbbing. dh still has a sore shoulder from his RSV shot last Friday. I don't mention my thumb to him because it feels like a competition as to who is in more pain. I will try to finish the doors tomorrow.
Vomity cats, yuck. My little dog spits up sometimes, but usually because she chewed up a stick. She does not have a discerning palate.
The facility says they can't take Gma next week so Rose will come each day. Now Hubs says he didn't mean for this to be a work week but to be his 'respite'. Which is fair for him but I scheduled the time off work so we could get these storage units dealt with. We're at a bit of an impasse. The boys are willing to work with me on the units a couple of the days, work schedules permitting. I'm not sure why some of my words are underlined or if you will see that. It's weird.
I'm a little disappointed with eMeals/Walmart. Today I did not get the requested soy sauce, sesame oil, butter, or lemongrass paste. I did get about a pound of ginger root. I had just enough sesame oil at home and made do without the others and the meal was still pretty tasty. But I have enough ginger to open an Asian restaurant.

Tweety I don't think I've ever used Pinterest for recipes
Stars I find a lot of stuff today is harder to repair than the instructions indicate
Dianah I hope that fire is contained soon
Yesterday was a quieter day. Had time before church to do the meal for the week, a chickpea and cucumber salad that required no cooking. At church we had a blessing for the new bell system and rang them for the first time in more than a year
After church did coffee with the over 50 group, again it was just me and the organizer but we had a good conversation as usual. Rest of the day was pretty quiet, did my meal prep for the week and rode my bicycle a bit.
Today nothing unusual going on, just the usual work and laundry
Will be considerably warmer today, will get up to the low 80s
