Stars glad that she has remained pretty quiet today

Hi Dianah

Was sort of busy yesterday.  Got the crock pot meatloaf started and the laundry done prior to church.  After church went on a fairly short bike ride then put the meatloaf and dishes away

Then went to the cat cafe with the over 50 group.  Was just me and the organizer again. Was a bit of a bust, the cats were either eating or sleeping and none seemed that interested in being friendly.

My cat has begun the frequent vomiting again after having stopped completely for a few weeks.  Need to start the hairball medicine regularly again.  It does give me the opportunity to practice calm and avoid letting this annoy me.  Am learning some tricks along the way that help with that

Going to be another sort of cool day in the low 60s, although I think the next 2 days it will get up to the low 80s

Good morning!

Joe, too bad the cat cafe was a bust.  That would have been fun had they engaged.

I started to post yesterday but stepped away and was too tired.  Not much happened on Sunday, but for a patient that I sent to the unit that was not doing well on a multi-system level.  Took four hours to get him a bed, but the critical care nurse stayed with him as he as on drips.  Crazy.

Today I take Slowbro to see his ophthalmologist who is quitting and moving back up north to be closer to family.  They don't have a replacement but this visit will cover him for about six months and I can either wait or take him somewhere else.

I'm sure I vented that my state hurricane insurance was being bought out by a private company that was going to charge $1000 more and nothing I could do about it.  Well they backed out (no surprise after back to back hurricane devastated this area) and I'm staying on the state's.  It's not cheap by no means and they will raise me by at least $500 but it's good new to me because $500 is better than $1000.  Although I suspect after back to back hurricanes they might even raise me $1000.  Time will tell.  However, I will find out what kind of insurance it is when I see how much they will pay for the hurricane damage to my roof.

Other than that routine day off.

Have a great day.

Good morning all. It's wet and windy here, but not too cold. Dh left to get the second part of his stress test.
I've got 2 snoozing dogs on my lap. We ran some errands yesterday to the hardware store, craft store to get a mini-muffin pan, and dropped off cookies to eldest ds. And I realized the pickup tabs expired in August. I ordered them on line and dh will pick them up.
I tried a chai spice snickerdoodle recipe that was disappointing: wasn't spicy enough for my tastes. I'm going to try pecan tassies today.
Picked up the travel trailer Saturday and put the Winter cover on yesterday. I was up on the roof pulling on the cover in the rain. The only part that makes me nervous is stepping down onto the ladder. Maybe I should wear a helmet.
I need to make a hair appointment, too. I only go twice a year. I hope she's still in business.

I'm comfortable with my stylist and wouldn't want to try to find another one. I don't make many changes because I too don't want to have to fuss with my hair and I've found that a bob somewhere around chin length works best.

Too bad the cat cafe wasn't more fun.

Tweety, I agree that a $500 increase is better than $1000. Insurance. Ugh.

I liked the idea of the Halloween chex mix so looked up a recipe and made it and took to our book club meeting Saturday night. It has become our tradition to have a backyard fire and sit around the fire telling/reading spooky stories for our October meeting. Then we do a Friendsgiving in November and Cookie Exchange in December. Then we'll get back to reading books together.

After I finished The Women the app was suggesting more nurse-y books and I started reading one called The Shift by a woman who is an oncology nurse but also has a Ph.D. in English. It followed her through a shift with 4 patients and while it accurately portrayed things like the constant re-prioritization required of a busy nursing shift, it felt too much like actually being at work to me 🙂 so I didn't finish it. I need to find a new book to read.

Hubs set out the pirate skeleton and his flag on our boat yesterday. He took a picture that looks like it's glowing an eerie green ... but that is from the street light and it doesn't look so much like that in person. We will add some lighting of some kind but I think it looks pretty cool. Will attach a picture at some point. I would say that Hubs understood the assignment. Hope we get at least a few trick-or-treaters.

I have to be one of the most heel-dragging people I know! I still haven't put the clean, folded clothes away. Why? WHY-WHY-WHY? I dunno. I look at the two stacks and think I SHOULD just go ahead and get them out of the way, but then I ignore myself.

I have triumphed over that fly that has tormented Momo. It landed on the rim of my coffee-cup, 'thinking', no doubt that I wouldn't swat the cup. WRONG! I had a spray bottle of ZEVO in my hand, and when I sprayed it, it fell into the coffee and DIED! Then I dumped it down the 'terlet' (Archie Bunker pronunciation) and put my cup in the sink with boiling hot water and germ-killing soap to clean off the ZEVO. It's not supposed to be harmful to people or pets, but I can't bring myself to use that cup again until it has been thoroughly de-ICKed.

I reckon I will have to take Nannie with me tomorrow when I go get my hair trimmed, even though she won't remember being out. When we get back home, at the very moment she sets her rear on her recliner, the trip never happened. Sad.

SiL sent me a text that she will come over and get Nannie on Wednesday. Also, I just sent BiL a text about the electrical outlet that won't connect and provide the needed power to turn on the  electric fireplace. He fixed the outlet the vacuum goes into, but I can't find an extension cord long enough to stretch across the room to plug in the fireplace over there. It isn't urgent, and it's not like we are having freezing temps. I told Nannie to let me know if she gets chilly or if she'd like a lap robe over her legs and feet.

BiL texted back that SiL will be coming over tomorrow to help him put the awning roof in place. (I called it a pergola, but it isn't one).

Anyway, it will soon be almost suppertime.

And the most important 'news' is:  Nannie's bedtime is 4 + 1/2 hours away !! YAY!
