Good morning!
Joe, hope you can break the cat of that habit of demanding food while you're trying to sleep.
Great picture J22!!
Waffles is an alarm clock and will awaken me if I don't get up soon after her breakfast time but at least she doesn't bother me before then.
I needed a new battery but everything else checked out and just needed and oil change and tire ration.
I got up around 4:30 AM and was done sleeping. Am going to take a nap soon. Hopefully will get to the gym.
98 degrees with a 'feels-like' of 108 degrees, and 63% humidity. Huh. And I have to dash out to the store to get paper towels and toilet paper, a book of stamps, and some more cranberry juice for Nannie. That'll be a fun run.
Got a text from SiL this morning that she will be coming over to do Nannie's shower and hair on Wednesday. I'm not sure how her lower back is doing these days. I may be paranoid, but I still think she is avoiding me, or Nannie, or both of us. I know I would like to avoid Nannie, but I don't have any choice in the matter, She had told me way- back-when, that when she went part-time, she would have more time to help with Nannie and the house. Uh-huh. She still 'over-books' herself, even though she is supposedly part-time now. She has her Mom (at a nursing home) to take out to shop/eat, and she still does hair for certain ladies, plus takes her grand-dgt on certain days of the week, and she is still working at the ABC Stores, so she has to really 'work' to fit Nannie into her schedule.
Nannie keeps telling me that there is 'something' coming out and going back into the woods at the side of the back yard. I said, "Squirrel, groundhog, cat, dog?" She told me "No, it's something BIG." I have read, via the 'neighborhood' site on-line, that some folks have seen a coyote around, but that particular 'neighborhood' isn't anywhere near us. Which isn't to say there couldn't be one here, so, I stood at the back door and watched the area for 3 full minutes and all I saw was a squirrel poking around in the weeds and fallen leaves. Nada. I said if the squirrel was being lackadaisical there is no way that something bigger, or threatening to it, is hanging around.
ACK! I guess I'd better go to the store before it is shift-change out in the world and the traffic gets UGH.
May or may not be back here later.....Hope all are well!
Oh well, hell's-belles, and ppfftt.
Nannie has been pulling her shoulder-wrap over her face and head. Unbelievable! She doesn't know why she is doing it, and when I asked she said something about the drapes and her shoes. Well, THAT makes sense! And, no, she isn't cold. Just getting weirder by the hour! I took a pic and sent it to SiL and told her she was missing The Nannie Show. I wish I could figure out how to put it here on-line, but no luck so far! Anyway, I just had to let you know how wacky she is getting!
Hello all!
Oldest ds's BD is Wednesday. We will take him out to dinner tomorrow (his only free time this week 😉 ), and enjoy a natter. Thai food is planned.
I did something to my back when I got up on Sunday, had a few eyebrow-raising spasms with certain movements. I took it easy yesterday, and while I still had a couple spasms last night, they weren't as bad or as frequent. I am kinda laying low today, too. I had made a Spicy Carrot and Lentil soup, which we had last night. Dh doesn't always care for carrots but he LOVED this soup! We will have it for a couple more days, then I need to think of something else to make.
My weight is at a plateau, will need to decrease portions or increase veggies, in order to lose another 10lb (my goal). I have some low-carb bread in the freezer, which is nice if I want a sandwich or a piece of toast -- no guilt! But I don't intend to eat it with every meal. I recall Grandpa and Grandma (on my mom's side) always had bread and butter with their meals. Always. They were from Kansas, relocated to Northern California.
Dh is down for a nap. It's 95 degrees out, which made me decide NOT to go for a walk! I may do some gentle exercises, taking care not to tweak my back. I firmly believe that, as it heals, gentle exercise is helpful for the healing and core strengthening and prevention. It's been years since I had any back issues, gotta stay strong.
Haha, I just looked over at dh, he is sound asleep with the little chihuahua/pomeranian in his lap, and the dog is licking dh's legs. At least he'll be clean when he wakes up.
We will need new tires soon, for the older (5yo) car. Tweety, good that all you needed was a battery! AND, that you got it replaced without a major crisis (NO! I'm away from the house and the battery is dead and I have to be somewhere and night is falling and and and...!)
We watched Waking Ned Devine, dh always likes that movie. Then, today we just started a new PBS mystery series, Professor T. So far it is engaging. There is an older, Belgian version that is reported to be darker but actually more funny. We may look at that after we have finished with the three seasons of this PBS version.
Have a good evening!
dianah, that soup sounds good. Happy bday to your son.
It was a Monday at work, starting with the EHR being down for a couple of hours. One patient admitted overnight had flu but the nurse didn't mention that in report and without access to the record the day shift nurse didn't know until the telemed doc made his rounds and said something about her not being on isolation.
Hubs is still complaining of eye pain. He sees the optometrist again tomorrow. I have suggested an ophthalmologist but I doubt he will do that unless the optometrist sends him. He gets his stubbornness from his mother!
My mother always thought a meal should include bread and butter. Though I really enjoy a nice fresh hot roll, I consider it a treat/luxury. But then, she sometimes said that bread was her dessert, so there you go.
I should mention that my mother was never overweight in her life and I most definitely am...

Tweety hope the car maintenance proves routine
Ado glad the alert proved short lived
Dianah this was a local Italian restaurant
Stars that sounds like some unpleasant weather
NJ22 thanks for sharing the photo
Yesterday was quieter. Went to church early to help usher. Did a little shoptting, came home and did the cooking for the week. Exercised and watched The Man Who Would be King, which I saw years ago. It was still pretty good. Did a lot of the packing for next weekend
Was smarter this morning, when the cat vomited again and then jumped on the bed, pawing at me and looking for food, I hit her with the pillow. She did spend time sitting on my bed but was less of a pest after that and I was able to sleep. Did not feed her early either
Today will do the laundry after work, will see if any more preparations are needed for next weekend, though I think I'm pretty good for now. Could always find time to work on some CEUs
Will be hot today, in the mid 90s with heat indexes of over 100, so I won't be outside much today
