Good morning.
Joe, I hope that you have a good weekend.
I worked the weekend. Bleh. Slow to get motivated today as is usual. I slept in. I had veggie lo mein and fried chicken wings for dinner last night. The height of laziness but it was good. Twice I woke up thirsty and drink a large glass of water. Probably wasn't good for my blood pressure.
My big plans are that it's SlowBro's six month check up with the doggie ophthalmologist. It's always an expensive visit.
A couple of coworkers and I were talking and I said "we got paid last week". They said I must not need the money if I don't know when payday is. I said it's just because everything is so automatic and I use my card or apps for everything and that I worked so much overtime I have a padding. It is kind of nice to not be living paycheck to paycheck anymore.
We're having our usual hot a humid Summer with daily temps in the 90's.
w00t! --w00t! SiL called and came over, gave Nannie a shower and shampoo, rolled her hair to give her a perm, and is going to take her to her house for 4 hours or so, and says she is going to get her tomorrow afternoon as well, at about 2 PM. So, I can continue on my way toward straightening out some things that have needed to be done for forever-long! I feel encouraged even if it is only for 4 hours each day. Nannie will be fed supper both days, so that's a nice break for me!
I'm like my mother, in that every-day cleaning up is a PIA (she was able to hire help to clean the house and do the ironing), but, now MAJOR cleaning is something I can dig into if I don't have to deal with anything or anyone else. I'm sitting here thinking of various things I can do, but haven't made a firm decision yet. Once SiL and Nannie are out the door, I'm going upstairs to decide what's next. I do need to run out for a few items, but it shouldn't take me long at all.
The temp today is supposed to be 94, with a feels-like of 104, and humidity is ridiculous at about 72%!
Evening all! I survived the workday, despite the argument with the alarm clock this morning. Made dinner (yay! I avoided the DoorDash temptation!) and oh my was it good! A little bread crumbs, a little grated parmesan, a little Italian seasoning tossed with chicken, zucchini, and tomatoes topped with just a touch of mozzarella. A lower carb version of chicken parmigiana if you will, minus the marinara I forgot to put on the grocery list.
It is unbearably hot here again, but at least it's not raining. Still suffering from my selective blindness when it comes to the weeds.
Stars, hope you have a productive day. That will make you feel better or at least I know it does me.
Rose, that sounds delish. I'm glad I don't have to do low carb though.
J22, yep I had those days. I'd go forever without new clothes, tape up broken glasses, live with a chipped tooth, eat ramen noodles. It was a horrible feeling to have no money and it being about four days to payday. I've said before, I think that's part of the reason I worked 3 months of overtime this year, because in my mind's eye, I'm still that kid.
My vet visit cost $450 today. Part of it is my fault because I heard her say she was giving me four bottles of an eye drop instead of the two I requested which added $100 to the bill. It's a pattern with me to not speak up for myself. Also he did some "tear test" that was $45 because he some outer inflammation and hairs in his eye. He did good and thinks it might be allergies causing some redness and inflammation. Okay but I've never noticed him having allergies before. I might have to add yet another eye drop to his regimen of three eye drops and lubrication.
Didn't do nuthin' except put the boxes into the back of my car so I can take them to that Thrift Store tomorrow. SiL and Nannie didn't leave until close to 2:30; then I ran out to the store and got back within 30 minutes. I couldn't think of anything else to get into, so I just sat and read. Good thing, too, because SiL brought Nannie back quite a bit earlier than I expected. Nannie got her nails done. At least she had eaten supper. She is tired and looking kind of stunned or vacant or something, staring at nothing....But now it is time to put her to bed, hallelujah. SiL is going to pick her up tomorrow after she gets off work around 2 PM, so that's another 3 or slightly more hours to myself. Maybe I'll put my clean clothes away.

Hi Ado
Stars hope today is another productive one for you
NJ22 hope your dog is OK
Rose I think a lot of people will have issues adapting after the long weekend
Was a quieter day for me. Before church did some of the chopping and such for cooking later. Was assisting minister at church, our minister was sick so we had someone fill in so things were a bit chaotic. Came home and finished cooking and meal prep. Exercised and watched The Chosen and Outlander. Otherwise pretty quiet day
Hoping today will be fine at work, now that both coworkers will be back. Nothing much planned for today except exercise
Will be the same as yesterday, mid 80s with rain expected
