Good morning!
Joe, hope the sore throat isn't a sign of something worse.
Ado, hope you continue to improve. I remember after Peru having a bacterial food poisoning (including fevers the first couple of days) that took a few weeks for me to get right.
Thinking back on a post on Saturday, we're all adults here but someone is going to have to school me as to why an adult store would sell lidocaine products, especially since inserting of toys is designed to bring pleasure not numb it.
I'm going a class today to help us improve our HCAPS scores. I have a huge resentment and bad attitude that I have to go to a class to tell me how to be a decent person. meh
Tweety, yeah, I had big resentment at some of the meetings we were supposed to go to, when I worked at the agency. Stupid stuff, many times. We were given a 3-ring notebook and some initial papers to put in it, and it was supposed to be an ongoing thing, but then we never got any more papers to put in the notebook, and there were no more mandatory meetings about whatever it was they though was so important. They would start something and then it would disappear and we'd never hear about it again! Weird! (smh)
I cancelled my hearing appt for today; I just don't feel like dealing with it, especially since I couldn't afford another pair of hearing aids right now, anyway.
SiL has planned to come get Nannie up around 12:30 PM, so that's nice. I don't especially feel like dealing with much of anything today. Right now I am resting in bed and waiting for my AM meds to kick in. I always turn over on my right side at some point during the night, and when I do that, I wake up on that side with my right hip aching something fierce. The meds do make it go away after a while. It's just part of life nowadays, and not why I cancelled the hearing appt. I just told them I did not feel well and would have to call to reschedule another time. But I don't mind that SiL is coming to get Nannie anyway! Nice not to have to go downstairs and get her up!
Going to be 70 degrees and sunny today. Not sure what I will get up to doing today. Maybe a little of this and a little of that. Ppfftt.
Stars, Hubs finally replaced the faucet in our kitchen a few weeks ago. We've had some accidents over the years when his "handyman" skills were great except he'd forget some one important thing... like to break off the tab between the new garbage disposal and the dishwasher drain? Right before we left on vacation? Ah, but it is nice having the new faucet and sprayer. He bought faucets for the bathrooms at the same time but hasn't installed them yet. My sister has told me a couple of times about having various leaking plumbing in the kitchen that she thinks is fixed now but now she needs to do something with the floor.
Tweety, the lidocaine is apparently used for throat numbing. I did Google viscous lidocaine and had only a few "toy store" type hits. I didn't dig any further. It sure is handy when inserting an NG tube, though.
It is so good to not feel so sick. I woke up sweaty at some point in the night and think that was the end of the fevers. Tried to be a little bit cautious about lunch (chicken salad sandwich and potato soup) but overate because I enjoyed it.

Yeah, I tried to Google it too and didn't come up with much which is why I asked. I do know that it's not a thing in the gay community. Having no gag reflex is a source of pride (mostly as a joke). LOL. Anyway I have used it to insert NG tubes. Recently we had a doctor tell us to put come down a patient's nares and have him inhale it prior to inserting the NG.
Puttered around in my 'new' room, hung up clean clothes, drove to the bank to pay on my MasterCard, as I didn't want to put that large a check in the mail. Got lunch: a hot dog and extra-crispy tater-rounds at a popular greasy-spoon restaurant. Came home and I am back sitting on my bed, dawdling and enjoying the sunshine coming through the window. No news about the kitchen sink. There is a couple of tablespoons worth of water in the plastic tub under the pipes (under the sink). No word from the 'plumber' (BiL) but I don't care, as it'll be taken care of sooner or later.
Just now got a text from SiL/......BiL is coming over to look at the sink and he is bringing Nannie back over here with him. UGH!
Hi folks. It has been sunny and cool, but now overcast and perhaps we'll get a little snow. There were some spits of snow earlier. Just as I got up this morning, even before I had coffee the door bell rang. The building supply company was delivering materials for the little project we are having done. This is going to start Wednesday, but I completely blocked out that someone else would bring the boards and doors. So they are in the driveway now. This finally lit a fire under dh to make some space and clean out the room that will be worked on. For an hour, anyway. Then he disappeared to make space in the garage. We need to wait for youngest ds to move the stuff. I tweeted my shoulder or slept on it wrong and it hurts when do too much. But still, I filled up 3 boxes of donate stuff, and filled a 33 gal. garbage can with trash, and the recycle paper bin. And I completely forgot to do my routine jog this morning, so I'll do it tomorrow.
My sister had hearing aids and won't wear them either. The one time I had my hearing tested, it was okay. One of the docs I worked with had some tiny ones that had bluetooth, which might be nice for the TV. But gad, I don't need anything else I can lose or the dogs can chew up.
Plumbing, yuck. And super expensive if you have to call someone.
You would not believe the blockage in the drain pipe of the kitchen sink. ... 80% at least! Rusted, rotted and so, no wonder the drain was slow no matter what we put in it to clear it out. BiL got some of it dug out using an old butter-knife; nasty stuff, thick and dried, practically solid. I had been telling hubby for YEARS to NOT wash food scraps down the drain, but apparently it made no impression on him. I mean, it had to be him, and/or his mother before him, because my dad was a plumber, and I was raised better! Anyway, the plumbing is on pause and there is a bucket under the sink in case I have to run water a little (very little!) BiL says he needs to get some various size fittings. He already has a new faucet and sprayer, but isn't going to put them in place until he gets the drain issue taken care of. I don't even want to think it would cost if an actual plumber was doing this work! Of course, it would be on Nannie to pay that, since this is her house, but still, I'm sure it would be $$$ prohibitive, so it's good BiL is a handyman!
Nannie is in her explaining mode... ? I finally had to tell her that I was also watching and listening to the program....except when she felt she had to tell me what was going on, which meant I had to mute the TV out so I could hear her....so it would be good if we could just watch the show and not talk. ?
SiL texted me earlier and asked if I was feeling any better. I told her I was just in a funk and it will pass. She said she thinks I am still grieving. What I am grieving is my time to myself, alone, quiet, and uninterrupted! An hour or three here and there is just not enough! I can't be creative in spurts, because to do that I have to sink deeply into quietness, with lots of room to let my mind wander. I CRAVE it!
Welp, there's 45 minutes until Nannie's bedtime, so that's something....
Stars, I hope you can soon get some uninterrupted time.
Things are always in upheaval at the hospital. When your staff is "lean" it's a big deal anytime anyone quits. Ugh. Twin B heard tonight that one of the FT night shift clerks quit so he is going to be working a lot.
Hubs would put everything down the garbage disposal (and probably does when I'm not there).
When we were taking care of my dad after my mom died I got hearing aids for him but he didn't know what they were or why they were there. He'd take them out almost immediately.
Actually, most of the kitchen clog is likely in the pea trap, which usually are pretty standard fittings. That is something I can replace. If the faucet is standard, that's not too hard to do either. If it has to be snaked, then that's a mess. I think plumbers charge around $90-$100 an hour, with a minimum of 2 hours. But a faucet and drain wouldn't even take 2 hours, unless they have to install any special fittings. We have had issues over the years with a sump/grinder pump and clogs in the too-small outflow drain.

Tweety hope you managed to avoid traffic
Ado I'm glad you're starting to feel better
Stars glad that it appears the leaking is not a sign of something serious
NJ22 it could be that one of the medications is having that effect
Dianah hope you have safe travels
Got the soup made before church. Then went to church early and stayed late to set up and then clean up for coffee hour. Had a fairly small crowd for some reason. Rest of the day was fairly ordinary. Watched Outlander, did a bit on the dating apps, and worked on a shopping list for this coming week. Felt a bit tense all day, not sure why. Was one of those days I felt a bit off. Was warm enough to ride my bike to the library to return a DVD
Was woken up in the middle of the night by a bad sore throat, not sure if it was dry air or GERD. Had to sit up for a bit and use a lozenge before I could get back to sleep
Today should be fairly ordinary, normal work exercise dating app stuff
Will be even warmer today than it was yesterday, up to the mid 60s
