Tweety I've noticed I tend to wake up early too, sometimes I can fall  back to sleep other times I can't

Stars that is odd behavior, sometimes animals notice things we don't

Ado I hope the snow melts soon

Yesterday ended up being busier than expected.  Did the freezer jam recipe before church, which took longer than expected.  Will be a few days until I know whether it worked out or not.  Went to church to usher, then came home and decided to try a hummus recipe, which I think worked pretty well though my blender was straining to mix everything.  Then ran errands and did the cooking for the week and exercised.  Spent the rest of the day relaxing and finishing Star Trek the Motion Picture

Not much planned for today, hopefully work will be OK although we will have someone out.

Will be a bit warmer today, in the mid 40s

Good morning!

Joe, I hope you have a good day.

I had a decent day.  Went to visit best friend and we went to the beach as it was nearly 80 degrees.  Nice day.  I'm hoping at this point he's in the non-contagious recovery stage.  He's still in the 10 day wearing of a mask phase for one more day.  But past the five-day isolation part.  Hate to say we were non-compliant and he didn't wear it in his condo when I was there or in the car.  I rolled the window down some.  But we spent so much time together and in the car when he had covid and  I tested negative three times.  I either had it or have immunity so I'm not worried.  Hope that doesn't bite me in the butt.  LOL

I'm in the final two days of my extended time off.  I'm feeling a little more rested and relaxed but it's taken a while.  I've had a lot of pre-trip and post trip anxiety this time off.  Makes me wonder if I'm ready to retire since not working has me losing focus and being anxious.  I'll have to work on that as the time comes for me to retire the next few years.

Heading to the gym and making that lentil soup today.

Have a great day.

Hello all!

We are just finishing up the lentil soup (which came out more like a stew).  Tweety, interesting comment, "Makes me wonder if I'm ready to retire since not working has me losing focus and being anxious."  I felt that when I returned to work 2 months after my valve replacement.  I felt I had lost my "edge."  Just couldn't get it back.  I changed from being in the cath lab to doing part time split between stress lab and case management.  I felt like I was experiencing imposter syndrome, and it was NOT pleasant.  I used to have the tiger by the tail, but it turned and bit me, and ran away.  I am glad I retired when I did, for I don't like feeling inadequate.

So nice to hear about your outings with George, good he is feeling better!  A nice beach day is just the ticket!

Joe, I have never kept up with the Star Wars movies, unfortunately.  My Heroes and Icons channel is greatly pixellating these days, and I am unable to watch the Star Trek series in the evenings --- disappointing!

Had a nice walk on Saturday with friend S, and yesterday dh and I practiced for our music on the 20th.  Just two songs.  Today I have a scheduled lunch with a mom from church.  We used to take the kids out on Saturday afternoons, to the beach or to the snow or just OUT.  Little mom-trips.  We've had small contact since the kids have grown, but we decided to meet up, finally!  I have also scheduled another meet-up with someone I worked with at the county hospital, over 20 years ago.  I keep up with her via FB, and we are meeting where oldest ds works.  We will meet one hour before he comes on for his shift, so we will get to see him when he comes in to work.  Looking forward to both of these!

It's sunny today, and temps in the 60's.  We are still checking on the eagle nest cam daily.  I did a little browsing yesterday and found several more eagle cams on the internet.  One, in Dallas, has already had one egg hatch!  The three eggs in the nest being watched with the Big Bear Eagle Cam, are due to hatch (or "pip") 2/29-ish.  Fingers crossed that all three will hatch (none of the two from last year hatched), and that they will all three grow to adulthood.  I know that's asking a lot, given how nature can be!

Have a good day!

Right after I got Nannie in bed last night, and was up in the kitchen, I heard her say, "Hey.....Hey!" I went to the top of the stairs and said "What?" and she told me she had to go to the bathroom. (Even though she'd just had 15 minutes on the potty and was supposed to do it then) I just said, "Okay, go ahead." and went about my business. She did, and then took herself back to bed, and I finished getting ready for bed myself.

This morning SiL called and asked what time I wanted her to come over, and did I want her to clean or take care of Nannie. I said she could take care of Nannie. I told her that I hadn't gotten Nannie up yet, and she'd probably be wet, plus her bedding probably needed to go into the laundry, plus I hadn't done the dishes in the sink yet. I said it was up to her what she wanted to do, and she replied that she wanted to help, so she would come over and get Nannie up, etc. YAY!

When she came in, my little watchdog barked and barked. But when I came back to sit on the bed, she calmed down and quit barking. Every so often when she hears something from downstairs, she looks up at me, and I tell her "It's okay." Kinda weird not to have to go down to do Nannie's morning routine, but I can stand it.

Probably will go out in a little while and do a few errands, not sure which ones or for how long, but it's raining, and I will have to talk myself into going out first! I really don't feel much like doing anything, to tell you the truth. Maybe I'll go get my nails done? Who knows! Social Security check comes next week, and I don't have a lot to spend on anything, so shopping other than for the necessities is not an option today.

Later, guys!

SiL has already had Nannie in the shower and gave her breakfast; I went down to give her the AM meds (haven't filled the mediset yet). Now she is getting ready to give Nannie a perm. Have at it, girl!

If I put off going out much longer, I'll be in the after school and shift change times, which is always a drag. If there weren't a few things I HAVE TO get, I'd do nothing at all today! Most likely won't get my nails done today.

Funny to not have to do things downstairs, but I will be fine. This is a mini-problem that I will get over. I'm just not used to being able to forego all the tasks I've been doing for so long. But I need to relax and enjoy it, don't I ?!

Gotta get on my feet and out the door...hup-hup-hup!

Stars, I hope you made it out the door and got some stuff done and can go back to enjoying the break from the Nannie chores!

dianah, I hope your outing was pleasant.

Tweety, a day at the beach might not heal the lingering blahs but it couldn't hurt!

Joe, hope you have a good Monday. Let us know how the jam turned out.

I was awake much of the night with severe heartburn, thanks to the Super Bowl snacks, I suppose. And the fact I ran out of omeprazole recently and didn't get more. Then at 0520 the phone rang... one of the med/surg nurses had called in and there were 6 patients -- could I come in and help? so I did. But another nurse ended up coming in around 0900 so I was able to do "my" job. There was perhaps an inch of snow overnight. You wouldn't know it from looking  outside right now. 47 and sunny.

Tomorrow afternoon is when I'm supposed to get the crown on my tooth.

Hubs was so tired from trying to deal with Gma yesterday that he was ready to talk to the social worker about placing her somewhere. But this morning he seems more hopeful. Yesterday she didn't eat all day, wouldn't take medication ... just to be stubborn, I guess. "NO!" "You're a s******!" She threw her meds on the floor. He got another set and she threw those at him.  She will put them in her mouth and then spit them into the cup when she goes to get a drink of water. In the evening, I offered her a banana and she took it from me but only ate a bite or two. She's just so angry.

She asked, "Who are you?" and he replied "Your son." And she said, "NO! YOU'RE NOT MY SON!."

I did my errands. It's kind of warm outside, and the rain is light, but I think it is supposed to cool off and rain more in the next few days. SiL took care of Nannie (whose perm looks good!) and she said she will come over on Wednesday and clean out one or both of the Christmas closets. She also had an idea of moving a few pieces of furniture in the den, and I told her if Nannie didn't squawk about it, it was fine by me, whatever she decides to do!

When I came home, Nannie sounded kind of nasal-y stuffy, and her voice is deeper. I hope it's just from the stinky perm solution, because how could she 'come-down-with-a-cold' in the two hours I was gone? She says her nose is running, but it isn't, as she isn't sniffing or blowing or dabbing at her nares. ? I have to say, she's easier to understand her when she talks with the 'baritone' instead of her high-pitched, whispery voice.

Almost time for supper

Ado, If Gma hasn't started it yet, get that second 50 mg dose Seroquel prescribed so she gets it BID (if she will not spit it out, that is) That 2nd Seroquel was the 'magic pill' to make Nannie less irritable and more docile.

Well, she got 50 mg of seroquel this morning. And her antibiotic (in case there's a UTI) and a tramadol. Right now she is docile but then no one is making her do anything. She's having popcorn and milk.
