Good morning!
The cold weather here continues but will slowly improve over the coming days to back up to 70 by the end of the week.
Off today for a couple of days. I have some painters coming tomorrow to paint the new bathroom and the attached bedroom. Crazy expensive, but I can't do it myself. Plus I want to paint the ceiling as there are some old water stains there. Have to move everything out today.
I gained a couple of pounds and need to take care of that.
Have a great day.
Happy Boxing Day!
Joe, nice that your church may be able to absorb and minister to the other, minister-less church. Sounds like a nice day. We also watched Holiday Inn, and I'm with you. I like it, but I prefer White Christmas. This year we watched both, about a month ago. We have some "special edition" DVDs, and they include a version of the movie with a movie historian narrating the whole way through, adding little tidbits about certain scenes. It was interesting!
Tweety, it's disappointing the painting will be so expensive. We are in the same boat, though. Any work done, we have to hire someone to do it, neither of us is handy with repairs and improvements. Anyway, you will CERTAINLY enjoy it after it is painted! ?
Today I will probably do a couple errands, but it will be a pretty quiet day. We had a nice Zoom call with both the kids, yesterday. Dh has a lot of pet-care-related things to do today, so he will be busy too.
Oh, and it will be 80 degrees today again! Amazing. It's usually 70. 80 is, well, un-Christmas-like!! Temps should drop tomorrow to 65 or so, and rain is forecast on and off, for the week.
Have a good day!
Good midday, I just got back from a jog/walk at the park. I had to trudge through a little bit of snow in places where it had drifted, but most of it is gone. It's a balmy 50 degrees! And not raining, for now.
My goodness, Dianah, that is a lot of music, and musicians. I am sure you will welcome a quiet day at home.
Joe, that is wonderful that your church could offer fellowship to another church. Frankly, I'm not sure I could identify the difference between White Christmas and Holiday Inn. I like the one with Danny Kaye. According to dh, the only Christmas movie worth watching is It's A Wonderful Life. I usually fall asleep when its on.
dh has stated his is going to do some painting projects around the house. We shall see. I don't mind doing it, but being rather short, I usually need some help reaching high spots, and moving heavy things out of the way. And for some reason, we seem to be accumulating a lot of stuff, despite vows to declutter.
I usually receive and put together a jigsaw puzzle at Christmas, so I may start my new Thomas Kincaide puzzle that Santa brought. And I will probably go outside to clean up some storm debris. The freezing rain did bring down some branches.
Hey, hello~
It's another drunken day. The kid from across the street came over to help me carry in groceries. Hubby and Nannie are sleeping in their recliners. I got some frozen stuff for supper. Will probably pre-heat the oven in about an hour.
My sister sent me an email that said they did get their heat and electricity back on (she lives in Southern Maine) But THEN>>>>the 1973 hot water heater let go and flooded their bedroom. Good grief.
Okay, that's all for now. Hope all are well!
I ended up choosing to stay home all day. Read some. Texted with a friend re: death of another friend in the bluegrass circle. He lived in Arizona with his wife. We got to know them when they lived in CA, before they moved to Arizona. Saw him last March, and talked with him probably two months ago on the phone. So sad he is gone. I feel for his wife and his (grown) kids. He was probably in his mid-70's.
I also texted some with youngest ds, who is in Ohio. Just friendly chat. I spotted a little eternity ring (half-circle of diamonds), and got it for a GREAT price. He said he was interested in giving it to his wife, and so I mailed it to him. Turns out she loved it! I was very relieved. And I LOVE the socks he sent me! ?
It should rain, on and off, the next two weeks, and temps will drop to the mid-60's, which will be more like "Winter" here. It will be nice.
Have a good evening!

Dianah that is an awfully long service, although it was nice they had so much music
Hi Tweety
Stars here's hoping he listens to you and takes it easy
NJ22 that sounds like a nice time
Made waffles yesterday morning, then went to church for a fairly brief Christmas Day service. Only 4 people there, it tends to be sporificely attended. One was from another, smaller church without a minister. Their congregation might start coming here, given the difficulties they've had finding temporary ministers
Baked about 4 dozen cookies. Was going to do a fancy brunch with omlette bacon and hash browns but my body said "nope" after all the baking. So I had some Ben & Jerry's and watched Holiday Inn instead. Which was OK but I like White Christmas better. Did some exercise and some knitting later and worked on my shopping list
Today will do the cooking for the week, which should be pretty easy, and I'll take another shot at brunch. Might try to get outside today, have a touch of cabin fever, although it is still fairly cold and we might get some more snow
Going to get up to 22 today, quite an improvement from the last few days
