Hi Tweety and NJ22

Stars sounds like a productive day

Ado that sounds like a good and ambitious meal

Decided to do some bird watching yesterday morning before church, still not a whole lot of birds out there to see.  After church came home and decided to make some blueberry muffins and then do the cooking for the week.  Probably should have done that another time as I was still a bit tired from yesterday.  Ran an errand or two and then relaxed most of the rest of the day.

Today nothing unusual going on apart from work and laundry

Cold day today in the low 40s

Good morning

Hi Joe, hope you have a good day.

I made a vegan Wellington for Thanksgiving a few years back.  It was good. I think it used mushrooms and lentils for the meat.  Haven't made it since.

I finally finished a book about a trio gay high school students out to get revenge on their boyfriends called "Last Boyfriends" but end up becoming activists and leading a rebellion against a policy similar to "Don't Say Gay".  Not too bad, but I'm finding I'm not liking YA so much anymore.  I started reading a book of short stores that feature gay men in my age bracket.  These kinds of stories are quite rare.

I was just reading an article about a man that is transitioning from female to male and discovering his love of men.  He's young and the article states he's been "various states of queer" such as nonbinary and transgender over the years.  I'm glad I grew up in a time when I could just be 100% gay and end of discussion.  No "various stages of queer".   Now you know.

Not much else happening around here.  Got some laundry going and will head to the gym.  A couple of weeks of bowling left.

We got home last night. I was so tired and my knees were killing me. I woke up with leg cramps in the night. But a few hours of sleep, and I'm a new person. I left my phone in DiL's car on the ride home from the airport, so I'll run in shortly and pick that up. I need to bang out some laundry and give lots of snuggles and scritches to the dogs. And maybe sneak in a nap.

I finished my book on the plain, "Demon Copperhead". It won a Pulitzer Prize, but I thought it was very sad. It was sort of like David Copperfield meets Hillbilly Elegy. I need to find something a little more uplifting.

As far as making food, I need to find something that is not french fries and not overly sweet. And I made myself a delicious pot of French Press coffee this morning. I was getting really tired of  little bitty cups of espresso and cappuccino for breakfast.

I remember when Espresso started to become a big deal. One of my co-workers brought her Espresso maker to work and treated everybody. I nearly CHOKED on the first sip, and have never been tempted again. Starbucks coffee is like that to me; I like strong coffee but GEEZE-OH , their coffee is also awful. It has always amazed me, the number of cars in their drive-through.. BLICK!

It is 68 degrees and it's raining, it's pouring. But there ain't no old men snoring, and according to the weather guy, there was ONE strike of lightning somewhere in Charlotte. EVERYTHING is now green; it's Beeee-you-tee-full! It is supposed to stop raining around 10 PM.

The Nannie-person has to be picked up at 5 PM, oh 'joy-joy-joy-joy down in my heart'. (YUH, sure!)

I have two huge laundries (of my own stuff) to do, but I am not so sure I will be doing it today. When I work, I work, but when I SIT, I REALLY sit! And it seems that it is THAT kind of day again.

Last night's supper was tolerable; I'd shuffle the 'recipe' around next time.... if there ever is a next time for me to cook.😜 Actually, I used to like to cook, and I was good at it, but I am so out of practice since we moved down here to Nannie's. Her kitchen is UNinspiring in so many ways. And since I lost all the weight (40+ lbs) over these years, I just don't have cravings like I used to. I like whatever is quick and easy, and not too much (as in amounts of servings of food). I like the nibbling and noshing life.

I may have to stop at the grocery store when I go out to get what's-her-name. I need dish detergent. There are a few other things on my list, but nothing crucial.

Momo has not been eating as she usually does.....the past three mornings she has eaten some of her breakfast at bedtime, and last night she didn't even want her bedtime snack. But she is pooping and peeing as she normally does. Maybe she is thinking of losing weight so she can be spayed? Uh-uh, I think not. But I doubt  that they would do an operation if her heart-murmur is still present at her next (unscheduled as yet) vet visit. The vet told me that the murmur was not present 6 months ago, so I dunno how it will all play out for her. I just want her to be happy and loved-on a lot.

As usual there is probably something else I meant to say, but I'll be darned if I can remember now what it might be. So, maybe laydah, eh?

Welcome home, J22. Demon Copperhead has been on my I-might-read list but there are so many books. 🙂

Tweety, I think your sentiments about being "just regular gay" are not uncommon, at least in people over ... say ... 35 or 40.

I kept seeing ads for a iced matcha with lavender cream at Starbucks and decided to try it. A little sweet, not bad, but not something I'd go pay them $5 for all the time. Or whatever it is I paid them.

The last couple of hours of the day at work got a bit hectic. I hope someone has a good idea for supper because I am out of ideas. I do have some fajita beef and some peppers and onions, tortillas, maybe a tomato, maybe lettuce of some sort... so I guess I'm not completely out of ideas.

As often happens with casseroles, last night's supper tasted better tonight! Happens with a good stew, too; I may cook one of those soon. Y'know, I'd like to make a pot of New England Baked Beans, but I'm not sure how it would be received ... to make 'em good, you have to use salted pork, which is primarily fat, and navy beans and molasses and dried mustard....Mom always served them with B+M brown bread (which is canned and mildly sweet; best served hot with real butter on it.).  When I made this for hubby years ago, his Southern expectations did not care for them. He was expecting something different I guess. I remember my mom would make cold baked beans sandwiches the next day, too.

I have a cartoon from an old New Yorker magazine, of two guys sitting at a table, and one says to the other, "We're here, we're queer, and I'm over it." Seeing it printed here doesn't quite catch the tired sarcasm as the drawing reflected. That was in the 1990's!

T'was a mahvellously dull day. Nannie will probably start to fall asleep as she watches TV.  We are going to watch the next American Idol, so she may TRY to stay awake, but she is so exhausted by 10PM that she MIGHT want to go to bed earlier.(Hope-I-hope-I-hope)

I went to pick her up a little early today so I could look at the used books for sale in the lobby of the daycare center. I got 7 books for $5, and there are several more bookcases full, which I still have to go through. Heaven for a print junkie! Fifty cents for paperbacks, and a dollar for hardcovers, and my 'budget' can handle that!

Raining still. You know it's raining hard and heavy when you can sit down in the den and still hear it hitting on the roof. And it very nicely washed away about 90%  of the pollen that was making my black car green!

Oooh,Oooh! 9:15 and Nannie wants to go to bed. Can't say no to that!
