Stars glad things were quiet around the house yesterday

NJ22 glad things have calmed down at home

Yesterday was quieter.  Did some research on bird watching groups in my area.  Decided to skip adult education and stop at a new local coffee shop before church. Asked for decaf coffee but they said their grinder was broken.  Went to another place down the street, they don't do decaf coffee, only decaf Americano,  which I got.  Odd that it was so hard to find decaf.  Church was a bit sporificely attended, probably due to Easter being last Sunday

Rest of the day was quiet, and a little dull  to be honest.  Did the cooking for the week.  Did a little grocery shopping.  Decided to skip exercise after that long bike ride on Saturday. J emailed that he was still under the weather, hopefully he will be well by Friday.  Apparently he's  having cataract surgery next week

Today I plan to start the packing for my trip to Madison.  Don't have to pack much but will be busy pretty much every night except tonight and Thursday

Light snow right now,  will be in the low 40s today

Good morning!
Hope you have a good day Joe and it's not too crazy.

I really don't have anything good to say about the work weekend but that it's over.

Having my root canal done today.  w00t

Good morning all!

Joe, no complaints about "quiet."  That's weird about the coffee shops not having decaf.  When I order coffee (which is rare), I order decaf, same as you.  Sometimes the story is "it's brewing, there will be a 5 (or 10) minute wait."  Have never been told they are OUT or the brewer is down.  Woo-hoo, a trip to Madison!  Good for you!

Tweety, good the weekend work is DONE!  Hope the root canal goes smoothly.  My one root canal went well (no pain); the pain came in the couple days AFTER the procedure!  I hope that is not the case for you, would not wish that pain on anyone!

We had a nice day yesterday, for Dapper Day!  It is so much fun to see others dressed up, and to see what they come up with for "dressing up."  There are some very clever people!  One gal hand-paints her dresses, for each Dapper Day!  I see photos of her online, but have never spotted her at the parks.  A few are weird concoctions but most do well, in the spirit of the day.  We were stopped by several ppl, who wanted a photo of us.  Some ppl (including one young cast member we talked with) asked why so many ppl were dressed up!  As was the case with us originally, they had no idea Dapper Day was a "thing."  We visited with a couple from New York who had been to Disney World but this is their first time at the Disneyland Parks.

We went on the Mark Twain, the Monorail (from Downtown Disney), and even got on Pirates of the Caribbean.  JUST as we exited the ride, we noticed there was NO line --- because they had closed the ride!  We were lucky to get on it!  I was able to make reservations for dinner at Blue Bayou (we had not been there in YEARS) -- kind of a belated birthday meal!  So we rode the ride, then reported for our reservation.  They seated us RIGHT next to the water (it looked like they had a lot of tables for 2; in years past we at least had the four of us, and those tables next to the water are PRIME!).  BUT, since the ride was closed down, no boats were running!  It was fun just to be there.  Just about the time we finished, boats started coming through, one with two cast members riding as a "test run."

One thing that was different: we saw NO bands.  None.  And we tried to find out who and when and where bands were playing.  No luck with the App, it had other shows (the parade, the fireworks, etc) but NO bands.  Then when we asked cast members, they referred us to the App.  Nope.  Not gonna work.  I messaged one of our musician friends, asking if he was playing.  I didn't get an answer till we were home at night, and YES, he was there and playing, but gave me his phone number, asked to text him next time, that texting was more reliable.

It seems the restaurant he usually plays at was closed for refurbishing, so they were playing elsewhere.  We had no clue where, and obviously the cast members didn't know either.  We did notice a LOT of cast members had an orientee in tow, learning the ropes.

So, that was our biggest disappointment, to not see and hear the bands, which is the main reason we go to the parks.  At least we went on a couple rides.  Dh's cane broke, so it was harder for him to walk a lot.  We only went to the one park, didn't even venture across the courtyard to California Adventure!  It was still, with the disappointments, a good day.  And we were relieved to hear from our friend that, yes, there still is live music at the parks, though we didn't hear any of it yesterday!

Today is REST!

Have a good day!

Good Afternoon~

Quite DAPPER, dianah! I wouldn't have anything to wear if I were to attend a Dapper Day. I dress more like for a "Whatever-Is-Clean-And-On-Top-Of-The-Pile-Day". (ie-very Cazhoo-AL) I have no skirts or dresses. Gotta confess that a number of years ago, I was so so so so VERY angry with hubby, I actually took my wedding dress (a $41 all-season, cream-colored jersey JCPenney dress) and totally shredded it with scissors! Satisfaction! I don't believe he ever knew I did that, and I don't intend to bring it up, ever!

Tweety, I hope your 'Route Canal' is a successful direction to 'Oral Health'?

Joe, I am ENVYING you! Wish *I* was packing for a trip! Wonder where I'd go if I had the $ and the time? Ah, dream on, Stars!

I have to go to get a few items at the grocery store. Isn't there always something forgotten from the previous trip? Nannie is napping in her recliner, hubby is curled up in his bed.

Have to take my car to the dealership on Wednesday to check the tires; the light on the dash is showing a tire is losing air. Fortunately I also can get the car inspected, because I did pay the tag and tax, but the DMV sez I need an inspection first. Right after that I can drive by the DMV and pick up the sticker.

So, guess I'll get going for the brief shopping trip.....

Oh Lordie; there is a loud, fussing argument twixt Nannie and hubby; if only y'all could hear it. She crabbed about the lawn being mowed ... worrying about the guy on the mower in the back yard. And then she said, "Well, what do YOU people do around here?" Hubby set in about how "We have given up our house and our life in Asheville, have had no time off, take care of you, clean your house, buy your groceries, take you to the doctor, do your laundry, and wait on you every day!" She sez we haven't done all that, and boy-oh-boy did that set hubby off in a BIG way. She started to give him the silent treatment.....briefly. (She'd do that to her deceased husband for a week or two weeks at a time. No kidding!) She said hubby was "just jealous" of her....which makes no sense at all. He's fed up with her and she said the same to him

Ain't we got fun?

Dianah, you and hubby look marvelous! I'm sorry you missed out on the bands. We ate at the bayou place on our last trip to Disneyland, and frankly, it was nearly inedible. I was so disappointed. But that was several years ago.

Stars, I never fail to be amazed that Mr. Stars continues to argue with someone with dementia. I suppose old habits die hard. My state doesn't require regular DMV inspections. We had to get one when we first moved back from Idaho, but none since. What do they inspect?

Tweety, I am sorry your weekend was tough. Good luck at bowling tonight! Perhaps this is the year you win the whole shebang!?

Annie, are you enjoying your trip? I hope your weather is pleasant, or at least nicer that here.

Joe, that is weird that a coffee shop would be out of decaf. I like Americanos, which I will sometimes get to treat myself. I just think the taste is richer.

I went with sis to see her new PCP today, who happens to be a nurse (now an ARNP) I used to work with. She gave her a neurology consult recommend, as per what the cardiologists said. She continues to be dizzy and weak, and continues to fall. And with Eliquis, that is kind of scary. Sis is so frustrated, and feel like her life has been on hold for 2 years. I went for a short jog, then stopped for a manicure. I'm thinking mac'n'cheese is a good idea for dinner.

Weather was nice but chilly, 36, this morning. Now it's overcast and about 50 degrees. Rain is threatening. We had sleet yesterday.

Looking really great Dianah!

Yeah, I wish Mr. Stars wouldn't argue with her like that.

My mother would do the silent treatment.  Looking back it probably was a good thing because she could have an acid tongue that could cut like a knife and make you bleed.   But it sure was not a good coping mechanism for any of us.  We never learned to constructive arguing.

My ex, may he rest in peace, gave me the silent treatment only once and I finally had to get him to admit what he was mad at.  It was trivial and I told him to not do that to me.  Probably because it reminded me of my mother.  LOL

My pain in my tooth is gone post root canal and in particular when I eat hot foods which caused me pain.  I hope it doesn't hurt in a couple of days Dianah.  He never mentioned that as a possibility.  It's sore around the tooth.  Apparently it wasn't an easy one because he said "it's angry and inflamed".   He said I was a model patient during the hour long procedure.  I'm sure he says that to everyone that just sits there and takes it.
