Moms in the Air Force Reserves?

Hi all, I have a few questions about the AFR. I have always wanted to be a flight nurse in the reserves. I have two children ages three and one. My husband is the breadwinner and we live very comfortably, allowing me to only work part time. I have 1 year ICU experience. I love my job but my thoughts of joining the reserves keep coming back! Are there any reserve flight nurses out there with little ones? Can you tell me what the experience is/was like for you, your kids, and your husband? What kind of hours do you work and how understanding are they in regard to family commitments? I have always worked night shift so my husband is very capable of caring for the kiddos on his own overnight or for a weekend. Plus, we have large, supportive families close by.

Any other info you could give me about the reserves as a flight nurse would be much appreciated! I'm curious about pay, deployment, term commitments, benefits, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Have you obtained a y more information on this? I am almost literally in the exact same situation!

I'm a single, divorced, Dad and it has worked fine for me. For some reason after the divorce my ex was supportive so she has agreed to take the kids when I have drill and deployments. If you become a flight nurse you will deploy. It is a small field and the reserve/guard performs 90% of the mission. Deployments are currently 4 months. So if your hubby and family agree to cover you you should be good. Expect a lot of training the first year, about 3 months worth but broken up over a number of schools. After that it is one weekend a month, although I frequently go in an extra day to fly (which is super fun BTW). Then 4 months of deployment every 20. In my unit we don't all deploy every time. Good luck.
