Mom nurses who work remotely. Stay at home?

Specialties Triage

I'm going to be at stay at home mom soon with two kiddos. a 2.5 yr old and newborn. I'm thinking of doing remote work at home once my baby turns 4 months or maybe a little bit older. I wanted to see what other stay at home nurse moms do. I'm not in dire need of income but I'd like to make some money to help out in the household.

I've done bedside nursing for 9 years, 6 years of it in the ED, 3 years in med-surg/tele. Remote nursing would be completely new. I thought telephone triage could be a possibility. I don't know much about it though, the requirements or could there be other work options that I haven't thought of. Each situation is different but I'd like to hear what is out there. Do stay at home nurse moms exist?

I work at home as a telephone triage nurse. I take 33 calls in 8 hrs. There is no way a mom with small children could do this job and watch their kids. Most telephone triage jobs are very high call volume. There is only 1 minute or less between my calls. I get a lunch break and two 15 minute breaks. You would need someone else to take care of your kids in the home. Some type of nursing job making occasional outbound calls would be better. If that exists. Telephone triage requires a very quiet area to work in also. It's great working from home...but it would be impossible to watch your kids at the same time.

hey! remote phone triage nurse here and it's way too much to do and care for a baby by myself. While I work my husband cares for our 1 year old but it is nice to be home and take breaks as needed to see him and nurse him as needed. I know it's been a little while but have you found anything remote?

Hi! Have you looked into HEDIS Nursing? It's chart review so no telephone work. Companies start hiring now through December for the Jan-May season. I have a straight forward study guide if you're interested in learning!

I would be interested in hearing more about HEDIS Nursing. I'm a Registered Nurse with an ASN. I'm looking for a remote nursing career which allows me to get up early and work a few hours before the kids get up. After I take the kids to school, I would have five hours of quiet time. I can work eight hours as long as it can be broken up and I'm not attached to the phone. Thank you!
