Hi guys, so I found out my HOAE test result from ocas website today. It is about 73% and together with my high school average 93.5%, my final score comes to 83.8%...I have heard this is a very competitive program and I am wondering what were the cut offs for the previous years and do you guys think I have any chance to get in? feeling so nervous

Hey guys congrats to all of us!!!!! I got my acceptance too. wooooooot!!

Congrats Licinia! Looking forward to seeing you both this Fall.

Hi girls,

I just checked my HOAE test results. I have similar results..

High school average of 83%

Academic - 75

Science - 48

Reading - 28

Spelling - 52

and vocational 120

Perhaps I haven't heard of anything just yet because I needed to write the test so late. Any opinions?

Hi bgibby, when did you complete the HOAE?

Also, there were only 45 spelling questions and 90 vocational questions on the HOAE so you couldn't have received a score of 52 and 120 respectively on the test. Not sure if you looked at the correct column when checking your scores? Don't look at the "normalized scores" as they don't take that into account. They will be looking at your "raw score".

Hi Bgibby, when did you write the HOAE test? yeah, Lumin43 is right, they will look at your raw scores. Your high school score looks pretty good. Hopefully you will hear from them soon.

Hey Lumin43, have you booked your assessment for success yet? or are you the first time Mohawk student? I just booked mine for April 9th. I am an esl student, I am not sure what to expect in the exam. Writing is definitely not what I am good at, let alone in a foreign language...:S

They called me to remind me that I have to do that as well . I have no idea what it is but I am going to Mohawk on Monday to ask about it and also to find out about what needs to be done before clinical starts in the fall . I heard it's best to get all that stuff figured out well in advance .

Hi everyone

I'm in 1st semester at mohawk right now.

For The written assessment, they give you an article to read and you have to answer questions about it. The next part is to write an essay based on a short question. You have a couple hours to do it.

They grade your assessment right there, you just wait a few minutes after you're done. Based on your score, you will either have to attend a Communications course, do the online communications course, or you will be exempt altogether.

This doesn't affect your admission status. If you're doing the assessment, you're in. It just determines if there's going to be an extra class on your schedule.

I will say it's probably good if you get exempt. I've heard it's very heavy (lots of essay writing)

As far as your pre-clinical requirements you'll want to log into MOcomotions and click My Student Account at the top, then scroll down to Pre-Placement Services and click. This will bring up all the details you need. You will also have to submit the forms to pre-placement services. Yes it definitely takes a while to get everything done and it's an annoying process! I had to take time off work, leave early, etc. So be prepared for that lol.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the "newbies" here:up:. I have read through the pre-placement services and it does look like quite a process. Oh one more question, where can I find how much the tuition is for the first year/first semester? Thank you again for your time :)

Here is the tuiton list - http://www.mohawkcollege.ca/Assets/Registrar/Financial+Assistance/Fees.pdf

My tuition payments were $2464.19 for first semester and $2112.05 for 2nd.

However I have spent about $700 on textbooks (They were all new though)

Hello All! I haven't booked the assessment yet but will do so soon.

Philvane, thanks for all the advice thus far! Were you exempt from the Communications class? I'm just wondering what grade is required to be exempt from the course. I've read previous threads and it seems that only individuals who've taken previous Communications courses are exempt. Some people have received near perfect scores and still have to take the online course. Any advice is greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks!
