Modesto Junior College '15/'16 ADN applications MJC nursing program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi all!

I've seen a few threads about TEAS V scores and points totals regarding getting into the Modesto Junior College nursing program. I'd love to get an idea where everyone else is at, what my chances might be, what's working for everybody, etc.

personally, I have 63 points so far, got a 76% on the TEAS test. I'm planning on trying to work on a better score though.

Lets get the conversation going MJC crowd!!

last year it was around 380 applicants i've heard.

Most of the people who I know that are applying this year are between 80-67 points.

Very though competition. SO If you have less than 60 pts on your application there is no chance i feel!

Do any of you know of anyone applying to the Columbia satellite program?? I've heard the points were lower than the MJC campus applicants last year. Just curious were I stand with those applicants.

My first application was in 2009 when it was still the lottery system. I have gone through changing pre-reqs and having to find work in between. I really felt like I needed to respond to this because I always am looking for a heads-up in this schooling ordeal. I applied last year with 58 points and it wasn't enough. I got an 82 on my TEAS. Since then I worked on getting my EMT license which gave me another 3 points and I completed another English course to bring my B to an A. Yes I do believe that any student who has waited a long time to get in will be trying to improve their score any way that they can in the year between application periods. However another person pointed out that every year the entrance scores will be different. I sincerely believe that if you choose this course you should never give up even though it is very difficult. Learn as much as you can every day. I am hoping this year my 74 points will be enough to get me in. Good luck and best wishes to everyone!

Hi Everyone! I am applying for this upcoming year as well! Im so excited that it is here! They really should not make us wait this long! I received 84 on my TEAS. For those looking for ways to study... the ATI study book helped me. I read it and completed the tests in the back of the book. I am going into this with 81 points on the application. Now before everyone starts with the "Wow thats high. Your getting in for sure!" please realize that I am just as nervous as the rest of you because if I fill out that app wrong then I am no better off than someone with 0 pts. As for the Columbia applicants, I took a prereq up there and they said that almost everyone that applied last year was accepted. Those who didnt get in filled the application out wrong. Points up there ranged from mid 40s to mid 70s. Last year I had 6 friends get in and they said that the points at MJC ranged from low 60s to mid 80s. On another note, last year they found out on June 2nd who was picked to provide documentation and then on July 21st they found out who was in. So Im excited to follow this thread and find out who all got on to the next step. Good Luck EVERYONE!

With 81 points you ARE going to get in! That's for sure. Those of us in the mid to high 60s are the ones to worry.

It's taken me so long just to be able to apply, I'm just happy to be done with pre-requisites!

Thanks for all the info! I sure hope we don't have to wait until the end of July to find out if we get in or not. How nerve racking!

I just wanted to let you all know that after visiting this thread this morning I started a FB group for applicants. It is "MJC Nursing: Spring 2015 Applicants". Please go and add it, if you want. :)

What a great idea! Thanks!!!

Hi, I'm cramming to get my application completed by the end of the month! I have thrown in the towel and decided to return to nursing school after a long break. My prerequsite gpa is 4.0 and I was a CNA and HHA in the past. I am pretty sure I have only 70 points but have not taken the TEAS test. I am so worried sbout not being able to take it by the end of the month and having to wait till next year to apply. Does anyone know if there are statistics for previous years incoming classes for both the main campus and the Columbia campus?

My advice would be to try to apply. It's not going to hurt anything to at least try. You do need your teas done though so try to get that done by the end of the month. In order to count your CNA and HHA, they need to be current. As for statistics, I don't know what exact statistics you are asking for.

i think it s best here than Facebook. People don't want to share on Facebook and its too personal. I hope more people share their points!

I have 70 points total with a TEAS score of 74%. Applying for the Modesto campus. So nervous though since I feel like the score would be right at the cut off. I know there's no way to tell though, but feel like I know lots of people that have low 70s (at least 71 or 72) to mid 70s or higher! I know lots of people who took the time this past year to do everything they can to increase their score by retaking the TEAs or certain classes. But of course I'm hoping that the ones with the higher scores in the past that were waiting for the lottery were accepted last year ;) Good luck everyone!

Anyone else wants to share their points?

seems like everyone has very high points.
