Has anyone gotten accepted into MidAmerica? I would like to ask you some questions! I have been accepted but am curious as to how YOU will afford the program, etc.

@radiate what type of transportation do you use? I am worried I will not be able to afford to ship my car there or drive my car over. Uber might be quite expensive as the costs accumulate...are there students that take the bus?

Does everyone get to go to the same hospital every module? Or are all students going to different hospitals in one module?

Thanks for your time -- I appreciate it!

I have my car here because I've lived in the midwest for about 7 years now. I understand the worry! I am not sure if other students take the bus but I would be happy to post in our group and see if any out of staters ran into a similar situation to yours, if that would be helpful!

This is the basic schedule for clinicals:

Mod 2 - 1 nursing home for 3 weeks

Mod 3/4 - 1 hospital for Med/surg. for 14 weeks and 2 weeks at Children's Mercy (either KS or MO location, just one of the two).

Mod 5 - 3 weeks at a hospital for OB. 3 weeks at your Community Health placement (could be in-home care which would be a different location each day).

Mod 6 - Capstone at one hospital with schedule based on your preceptor's availability.

I hope the schedule helps give you an idea. I don't see it being easy without a car because they kind of send you all over the place.

Maybe you could rent a car? Again, I'd be happy to ask around. I wish I had more personal experience with this situation but like I said I brought my car over here ages ago.

@radiateI appreciate your help --- thank you for the breakdown of each module. that eases my anxiety a little better. I have to find a way to get a car over to KS somehow...

does anyone have any courses they still need to complete before the start of the program? Apparently, I still need to fulfill one more requirement before I can officially confirm my spot. This is so frustrating.

@PleaseDontForgetMyName I am currently taking Nutrition and have to take Statistics and English Comp II this summer at JCCC. What class are you needing?

I paid my deposit and emailed my acceptance paperwork to confirm that I am attending in the fall. If you were accepted you have a spot, but if you don’t pass the class needed with a C or better you lose your place.

Does anyone know when our orientation is and what day classes begin?

@BethAnn24

I’m not sure! The lady I emailed the acceptance paperwork said we should be hearing from someone else soon but I haven’t heard anything yet.

@ehinrichs98 I emailed my paperwork on Monday. I thought they would send me an email confirming they received it but didn’t. I might try to call today to make sure they have my info and ask when we will receive more details. ?

@BethAnn24 orientation is august 16, the friday before the first week of school
