Mistake -- Just need to let this off my chest

I have been applying to internships and have been offered two interviews. I know how competitive these are. I atttended one interview successfully but I am not prepared for the next (there is very little chance I can gather the required materials in time, when applying for this during school I was just not thinking ahead). So I think I am going to have to respectfully decline this interview (I think it is full-time unpaid, anyway, which I would not be able to manage). I am kicking myself over and over again because it's at a hospital I really want to work at. I still have the other opportunity waiting but I really wish I could have two feet in the door so to speak.

I guess I'll have to chalk this up to a lesson learned, but a potentially very costly one at that :(

Do it anyway. Timing is the key to finding jobs.

I guess one person will write a reference for me but I'm scrambling to find a second person. Do you still think I should go regardless of whether I have both of my references or won't that do more damage to my reputation then good?

Did your interviewer specifically request two written references?

One thing is for sure, if you don't go on the interview, you won't get the position. Now if you beg, cajole and otherwise implore some folks you know to write you the reference(s) and then go and pick them up forthwith, you may just be able to pull it off. If you don't get it, it won't be for lack of trying. ;)

Interviewing is a skill you also work on during interviews.

Those unpaid internships are a bummer.

I would go I would even write the letter and find someone to sign it alot of times people just don't want to write the letter but sometimes if you offer to write it and let them read it and change what they want they will do it for you

Thanks for all the advice! I decided to accept the interview and it turns out that I ended up finding two great references at the last minute. Wish me luck!!
