Lutheran School of Nursing

U.S.A. Missouri

I am starting Lutheran in fall '12. Just wondering if anyone has attended/atteding/graduated from the program. I had a few questions. My biggest question is can I still handle to work full time in a hospital 3 days a week. My employer is flexible with my shifts, and i can do weekends only if needed, day/night shift. I would like to stay full time because of the tuition assistance that I receive, and it would be cut substantially if I drop to part time.

My success is most important, but paying for school and everything else is of course important as well.

Let me know if you are aware of the schedule, and how much my life is going to change over the next 24 months.

thanks so much!

well I am afraid mainly because they keep saying most jobs will require BSN by 2020. so by the time im done im afraid I cant get a job as an RN. do you know if this is true? What days and hours did you go once you started the nursing classes? I have to get my ACT score done, intro to A&P1 and college algebra then I can start the nursing program. I applied yesterday and am going to pay the app fee and do the essay but afraid I wont get the correct ACT in time for the fall semester to start. but guess ill find out lol!

Hi

I can't state if BSN is going to be mandatory for getting a job by 2020. They have been saying that before I even started nursing school. Hospitals do prefer BSN ready nurses since they are trying to get magnet status, but you will still be able to get a job (may not be your dream unit).

Hours for class were usually 8 hrs/day from 0800-1600. Sometimes earlier depending if you are taking other classes. I think we had one day of the week where we didn't have any classes (during first semester) and it was reserved for people taking pre-requisites. After that you're on campus almost every day if you're not in clinicals (2-3 days a week). It just depends where you're at in the program.

If you have any more specific questions, please message. Good luck!
