I have finally made my decision!

I think I have finally decided to go the STLCC route! I've been stressing about it all week and this is the best decision for me and my family. We will have to postpone building our dream house and having a second child for about 4 years but it will be so worth it. I'm taking BIO and CHEM this summer and then on to A&P, MicroBIO and Human Growth. Then I'll sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting for my letter! You all have been such a great help in making my decision. I'm so glad I found this board!

I don't know the cost exactly either, but I do know they mentioned to students over and over last semester that if they needed a note to extend their time or for special child care, to let them know and the instructors would take care of it....I guess you are scheduled according to your actual class schedule for the daycare, so they are aware of that in the nursing program...it's certainly very convenient unless you have private daycare somewhere else you're considering using...

just wanted to mention that all three stlcc have "campus care." it is cheap child care for the hours that you are physically in school, i believe $2 per hour. you are allowed to drop off 15 minutes before class and must pick your child up 15 after class. i have heard they are flexible for the nursing student's clinicals. my daughter attends flo's child development center and loves it.

this is another main reason i chose this program. i will need care for my then 3 year old. omg, he'll be three before i ever start the program. :sniff:

you may need to get clarification about clinical days themselves....the reason i say this is because you have to be on site at a hospital by 0630....and i'm not sure when the childcare centers open or if they're set up to watch children for clinical hours...which right now in first semester are 2 half days every other week, and one full day each week in second semester. i heard they're 2 full days in third, but don't know for sure...you'll probably want to check and then see if you've got coverage for those days if they're not open that early...

Good point, I know when my daughter attends normal childcare at Flo the hours begin at 6:30.
