Next year august and are you taking any classes at Rockhurst?

Yes! I am starting Research College of Nursing on 01/17/07. I am in the BSN traditional program and you do have to take classes at Rockhurst. I do have a friend who is currently in their accelerated BSN program that started in Aug of this year, and she had to take Human Reality and Existence, Ethicial Theory, and Christianity at Rockhurst before she started the program. She also had to take Patho at Research College before she was allowed to enter the accelerated program. It's a little different for the traditional program.

Yeah waw. I wish you the best in your program and I am certain you will do wonderful. I am looking forward to next august also.

I am entering the accelerated program in Aug '07! I am taking patho this summer along with Medical Ethics, Christianity I, and Human Development. I think I've lost my mind but I guess it's a good warm up for the accelerated program huh? I'm really excited about it! Are you doing the traditional or the accelerated?

I'm in the traditional program that starts 01/17/07, next Wedensday.

Good luck to you! I'm jealous. I'm so ready to be done with all this pre-req crap and get on with it! Hey, did you take any classes with McInerny (sp?) at RU? I've heard he's, shall we say, moody? Any thoughts?

Oh, I have a class with him (Christianity) that starts next week. I've already been given the low down on him. Plus, he don't have any good reviews on ratemyprofessor.com. I have a girlfriend that had a class with him and basically she said don't get on his bad side. She said that he throws his weight around so complaining to the dean will get you nowhere. So, I'm trying to get a different teacher for that class if it fits into my schedule. With my focus being on Patho, Nursing Assessment and Fundamentals, I don't have time to worry about other "non nursing classes".

I'm taking him this semester as well, Morality in Healthcare or something like that. I haven't heard great things about him either. I have heard that if you miss even one class it could drop you an entire letter grade. That worries me a little. Not that I make a habit of missing classes but life happens and sometimes it just can't be helped. BUT, I'm with you. I'm more focused on doing well in the science and nursing classes and can't be bothered with someone who has an ego the size of Texas. :lol2:

I am taking Christianity I this summer, with McInerny so you will have to let me know how it goes.

I'm gonna try to get a different teacher. I'm looking at the schedule listing right now. I want this class once a week, not 3 times a week and McInerny teaches it 3 times a week. My friend had him for Morality in Healthcare and got a B out of it. She just finished her first sememster of the accerlarated program and got 3 B-'s and 2 B's. She says they only lost 2 people in the entire program of 77. She says if you buckle down and really study and focus, you can make it.

Have you heard anything about starting pay for Graduate nurses in the HCA division, like at Research?

I haven't. I would really like to get on with OPRMC or Menorah if possible. I live close to both. I have a friend who is a PA and does rotations at Research and loves the hospital. Is that where you think you'd like to work? They've been around forever so they must be doing something right!

Do traditional students get to take advantage of the tuition reimbursement program through Research?

Yes, the traditional students get to take advantage of the loan forgiveness program as long as you agree to work for any HCA hospital for 3 years. I think for your program it's 2 years. It's a toss up between Research and the new hospital they are building in Lee's Summit that will be completed by the time I graduate. They are also building a new one in Independence. I want to work either ER or ICU because I have plans on getting my masters and becoming a CRNA.

I'm thinking about doing some extern work at Truman Medical Center in the summer.

I tried to get out of McInerny's class, but all other Christianity I classes were full, or did not work for my schedule. There is one on Monday nights from 6pm-8:40pm and it is full, but I petitioned for it. I'm the 10th one on the list, so I think chances may be slim that I get that slot. I've also put in a petition for one this is 3 times a week but with a different instructor and a different time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
