MiraCosta Nursing Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I want to create a thread to anyone who has applied to the ADN Nursing Program for Fall 2020 at MiraCosta.

The application window is still open until the end of February and we wont find out until April, so lets share some words of encouragement and create a community.

I just turned in my application on Monday, February 10. It makes me anxious that they don't tell you your points when you submit your application...

Nope... still waiting ?

If I remember correctly reading this here somewhere the notices typically come out on Mondays.

I looked in to my emails from previous years where I did not get in and last year both were on Wednesdays. (4/5/19 and 10/2/19) I ended up getting a spot as an alternate last semester but in the end wasn’t able to start, therefore I will get a spot for this Fall 2020. I am just concerned as to what the status will be for the program with everything going on so I feel like I am anxiously awaiting the email. ?

As far as I know, the program isn't affected. I have a friend who is in the program right now. They've managed to implement "virtual" clinicals so everything is going according to plan from what I hear. We're halfway into April so I hope we get an email sooooon. Congratulations on getting a spot! Do you know how many alternates they accept?

Ooh that’s good to know!! ??
Thank you! Hopefully by Friday we get something!

When I went to the orientation there were 4 alternates there. I’m not sure how many ended up getting a spot though.

Hmm...that’s interesting. I looked again at the Fall 2019 thread for MCC and people got notices on Monday, 4/15. Maybe the emails are staggered. How many points did you have when you got accepted as an alternate last year? You still have to wait to be accepted this fall or are you already in since you couldn’t attend the last cohort?

Whoops sorry you are right! Monday was the 15th last year!! It was the 15th not the 5th! Anyways, the 2nd for Spring was a Wednesday.

I couldn’t even tell you how many points I had. I have been applying for a couple of semesters now to keep my application active and added points here and there. I was maxed out on all of my points unless I were to retake a science course. I ended up getting a call as an alternate begging of Nov last year. I am automatically given a spot this semester since there didn’t end up being an opening for Spring.

If anyone else wants to share.. here's my stats:

CNA certificate - 5 points

Relevant work - 5

Statistics course - 5

BIO GPA : 4.0 - 30

Fixed GPA: 3.29 - 11

Life Experiences - 5

Fluent in Spanish - 3

TEAS: 89.3 - 28

Total: 92 points

This is my last semester at MiraCosta. I'll have my AA by the end of Spring and have completed Sociology along with that. That'll adjust my fixed GPA to 3.71 and bring me up to 94 points for the following application ??

Emails are out! Good luck everyone!

It's a no for me! By my estimate, I should have 89 points.

Good luck to all of you!! ?

Same. Hopefully next time around. Good luck everyone!

Don’t give up hope! I’ve been denied 3 times and after the 3rd denial still got that alternate spot!

Sorry to hear that. It's crazy how competitive it is! Have you applied to other schools?
