MiraCosta ADN Fall 2010 or current students

Published

I was just curious as to whether there are any current MiraCosta students in the ADN program. If so can you tell me what classes you took during the 1st, 2nd, etc semester.

For the students that got accepted for Fall 2010-when's your orientation? I got accepted through a collaborative program with Cal State San marcos and was wondering if we have our own orientation or if it's with the reg. cohort.

Thanks

Hi! I also got accepted through CSU San Marcos and orientation is scheduled for next Wednesday.

I'm excited and I am assuming that because only 10 of us were invited to part take in the 3 year program, we'd be going through orientation with the regular cohort.

I hope we get to wear CSU San Marcos scrubs (not that there is anything wrong with MiraCostas), but because I think it would be more cost efficient if we bought the scrubs we would be graduating in, instead of two sets :)

I am also curious to know what classes they take the first couple of semesters because if the requirements are the same, I may have already covered the equivalents of those at San Marcos. Can't wait! :)

My brother, who is already in the csusm program, found out that we'd basically be doing the ADN program at MiraCosta and then doing upper division nursing classes during the summer and 3rd year. We'll be wearing Miracosta's uniform and won't need csusm's scrubs cuz the upper division classes aren't clinical classes.

From the looks of the email I recieved, we'll be attending an orientation with the MiraCosta students. I hope they point us 10 out cuz i'm curious as to who we all are-since we'll be together for the next 3 years...

I am also curious about the 10 from San Marcos. I assume we will be on the same schedule with the regular cohort (possibly different clinical groups during our time there) and just do our upper divs at san marcos. I don't know which cohort your brother is in, but I think for UDs, during summer we have an internship and the last year we have an externship both of which in volve clinicals.

I'm really excited/nervous for orientation! I just hope I can find my way there. See you next week!

From what I was told, your final year is only BSN-level nursing courses and will not include an internship or externship. I could be wrong however. During the summers, you will be doing upper level general ed classes (Bioethics, Medical Anthropology, & a nutrition class) along with a BSN-level nursing class (research, health promotion, etc)....if Mira costa offers internships/externships with their ADN program, you will be doing those with Mira Costa

hello looking forward to see u all next week with Orientation. I was also asking is anyone has room shared with decent price nearby..im from OC and im looking forward to move down there for the program. Thanks

are you sure you have the date correct?? orientation was this last wed-July 14th...

uhhh..NO, it was clearly next week..i am not sure. But i recieved a call from them just this week saying that i have to go to Orientation next week . How about u?? did u go to Orientation already or something?? hm..thats weird...

And you're positive that it's for the generic rn program? Not lvn to rn? If it is the regular rn program, then you must have your own orientation because 16 out of the group of the expected 17 or 18 were there...

i am pretty sure its RN program not the LVN because i applied for RN program. so u had ur Orientation last week ..only 16 show up?? i thought it has to be 40 at least that they accepted at MiraCosta. hm..or is it because u are from CSU Marcos that they arrange different orientation day. Maybe i just had an orientation by myself? lolzz but i expect to see some people next week also

She said there's only 20 students in the cohort and that she knew a few

weren't able to show up today. There's 10 from cal state san marcos and 10 from Miracosta. Congrats on getting in and i look forward to meeting you. We all introduced ourselves and only 1 person is relocating to oceanside for the program. I'm the only one who will be commuting more than 40 miles. I've been looking at rooms to rent and it seems like alot of them are 400/mo, which isn't bad at all...

hmm..only 20..interesting because i thought they accept 40 per semester. Since all of you did the orientation. I guess there would a couple doing orientation with me next week. Too bad i didnt get a chance to see you at the orientation or else its going to be cool. I will be going more than 63 miles to get to Miracosta so thats why im looking to go down there and stay for the program. I was hoping that its gonna be around 300ish but since u said its 400...thats so expensive, maybe i need to look for a roommate to share the cost and study together possibly. By the way Im from OC, nice to know you.
