Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

U.S.A. Minnesota

Published

Hello everyone!

I wanted to start a post for anyone interested in the University of Minnesota's Master of Nursing program, 2017 cohort. I just submitted my application and wanted to have a space where we can discuss the process, ask questions, or just nerd out about nursing!!

I am so excited to see what happens this spring and wish all of you the best!

A few questions to start some discussion:

how are you feeling about the application process so far?

What past or current experiences are you excited to offer the 2017 cohort?

How long did NursingCAS take to verify your application after submission, and have you experienced any issues with the system?

Any other questions or topics you want to add, please share!

Well, I have a frustrating NursingCAS update. My application was rejected today, as they said they need a transcript from a study abroad program I did in 1997, which I thought was covered by my BA transcript (the credits and grades are listed there). In twenty years and two other graduate degrees, I've never been asked for a transcript for this! The school that the study abroad program was through couldn't even find my record for half of the day. Now I'm back to square one - trying to get this transcript sent as soon as possible, but it will have to be mailed, processed, and then verification will restart. I have a terrible feeling that this is going to invalidate my application. :(

Hi guys, still waiting to hear back on interviews.... called today and they haven't sent them out yet.

I went to UMN for undergrad and the U is my top choice for grad school, though I've applied to four other schools. I'll be happy to be accepted anywhere, but am REALLY hoping for acceptance at the U. I've had interviews already for three other schools (one doesn't have interviews) and will being hearing back from schools starting March 3rd. UMN needs to hurry up, it's killing me waiting!!

@Metzl034 I received an email from them earlier in the month stating that we should receive a notification for interview selection by Feb 24th, so hopefully we all find out by Friday. Good Luck everyone!

Kme77 how did everything pan out? I really really hope all is well and that the U and NursingCAS were able to work with you in the transcript issue.

And for interview notifications I think we will get an email right away Friday morning stating whether or not we are selected to interview. I'm waiting with baited breath!!!!

good luck to everyone!

Everything ended up working out, thank goodness. And I just received an email that I got an interview! I hope everyone else is getting good news too...

Kme77, that news just made my day! Congratulations! I received an email informing me that I will not be offered an interview. I am glad the wait is over and I now have an answer. I am a mess of emotions but hopefully I can improve my application and give it a shot again next year.

Good luck to all of you throughout the interview process, and I hope all goes well! It has been so exciting to keep a thread here with you all and I look forward to keeping up with all the updates!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. You seem like a really kind, well-spoken person, and I was hoping that we would both be accepted and could meet in person. I hope that you will have better luck next year.

Did anyone else have good news?

No interview for me. I was a mess upon finding out, but literally 20 min later I received my acceptance to University of Arizona's MSN program!!! I'm still waiting to hear back from Rush and UIC after my interviews, and from Marquette, but no matter what responses I get here on out... I'M OFFICIALLY GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL :) Good luck to those who did receive interviews!

Congratulations!!! :)

Is anyone else getting ready to interview this week? Mine will be Monday...just wondering how the process is going for others! I'm starting to get a little nervous. :)

I don't know if anyone else is reading this thread, but I thought I would update that I received my acceptance today. I would love to hear from anyone else who is planning to start this fall!

Congratulations kme77. I was also accepted. Just received my acceptance email today. Looking forward and excited about what the future holds.
