Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

Kme77, that news just made my day! Congratulations! I received an email informing me that I will not be offered an interview. I am glad the wait is over and I now have an answer. I am a mess of emotions but hopefully I can improve my application and give it a shot again next year. Good luck to all of you throughout the interview process, and I hope all goes well! It has been so exciting to keep a thread here with you all and I look forward to keeping up with all the updates!

Kme77 how did everything pan out? I really really hope all is well and that the U and NursingCAS were able to work with you in the transcript issue. And for interview notifications I think we will get an email right away Friday morning stating whether or not we are selected to interview. I'm waiting with baited breath!!!! good luck to everyone!

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

kme77, thank you so much for sharing a personal part of your story here I am really excited for all of us and hope that we get accepted to this cohort. I am Minnesota born and raised, went out of state for college and lived in Peru for 2 years serving in the Peace Corps and am now back in Minneapolis working in social services. Im not sure how much you've gathered from family working in the area but please do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions you might have about the area or any other details! I've got a decent pulse on the cities and would always offer to share what I love so much about living here. As far as reputation goes, UMN nursing is the best option in the state if you are looking to specialize in upper level nursing, and also has a reputation for having good networking connections to post graduate jobs. (Only slightly biased but I've done so much research). And DANG, 5 prerequisites?! You're an all star for taking that on! Nursing school will be a piece of cake Keep me updated with your verification!

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

The program at the U is the only application I've put in, and the only place I'm planning on applying to. I've researched all the programs in Minnesota and because of the length, degree type, scholarship opportunities, and credits toward a DNP that it offers, I am completely sold on UMN. I love that it is only 4 semesters! How about you??

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

Hi everyone!!!!! GREAT NEWS: my application was officially verified yesterday afternoon, coincidentally only 30 mins after I called NursingCAS to ask where my verification was at in the whole process. It officially took NursingCAS 9 business days to verify my application and to complete the verification process. I hope this is helpful in sharing and hope that your applications are also verified this week if they haven't been already! Anyone else have any updates going on? Kme77, has your transcript been processed? Jasmirsh, how is your essay coming?

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

Kme77, still not verified in NursingCAS yet. I also called admissions just to touch base and make myself known so that they are up to speed on my unverified status. I received similar information, and the woman I spoke with even told me that after the 7-10 day grace period is over, admissions will work with the applicant and NursingCAS to determine the issues. I guess it is no guarantee, but at least they are willing to work with us on this process! Jasmirsh, so glad you joined the conversation! We are all anxious, but I'm hoping for the best! If I read the directions correctly, I believe the application has to be e-submitted in order for verification to begin. I would give NursingCAS a call or even the university so that they can check your status or provide some support. Im crossing my fingers for all of us, and hoping we all get some answers soon. I'm on day 8 of verification, and their website states that the process should take 10-12 business days once transcripts are fully uploaded and processed, so hopefully this Friday is my lucky day! Sending you all the best wishes! Keep sending in updates! Good to know we are all in this together :)

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

Ampharos I am so glad you have so many feelings, because all of this is so incredibly helpful! do you have any recommendations for incoming students to better prepare for clinicals? what sorts of skills were they rapidly teaching you and asking you to know before clinicals? and I am going to second kme77 and ask about holding a job during school - what is your honest opinion on that? I'm so glad to hear that the cohort is so amazing. To be truthful, I am just as excited about nursing school as I am about making friends in the new cohort. I love the connectedness and the support of that type of community, and I hope that I get to be a part of this year's cohort! Thank you so much for all of the info and continued discussion. :)

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

I appreciate the responses from both of you! Ampharos, I really like that it sounds as though interviews are more conversational vs formal review, as I do much better in the conversational setting. I'm so happy for you, and it is nice to know that the waitlist functions that way! I will keep those timelines in mind and definitely attempt some normalcy until late February kme77, I read your message and feel so relieved. Thank you so much for sharing your information from admissions, and it sounds like we will both be okay!! It sounds like the updates don't take a super long time, so I'm sending out good vibes to all of us! Were/are either of you worried about GPA or GRE scores?? I have a good background that will help with the admissions process but my GRE math score was low, and my overall prereq grades are Bs, some As. What are your thoughts on this??

Kme77, I am also nervous and in the same boat. I submitted my app on Tuesday, and it is already verifying, but I don't know how fast they will finish the verification. Let's keep in touch and I will let you know what I hear if I call admissions next week. My hope is that as long as all our materials are in and processed, NursingCAS will continue verifying after the deadline, and the U will be okay with that (hopefully). Best of luck to us! Fingers crossed.

Master of Nursing U of M 2017 Cohort Applicants

Thank you so much for the support and information! I've been stalking allnurses for a couple years now and know that the thread last year was super helpful. Im so excited but also so nervous. I'm worried my application won't be verified in time for the deadline, but I'm hoping for the best. If it isn't verified by next week I'm going to give admissions a call! Any advice or suggestions about interviews? Do you remember that timeline? Thanks for your help!
  11. Anyone out there applying for the U of M Entry level Master of Nursing program for 2017 admission? Im hoping we can create a discussion post for questions, thoughts, advice, support, etc. I just submitted my application and I want to be connected to others out there that are applying as well! What's your background? What do you currently do? What are you most excited about regarding the program and nursing? Local? Out of state? Can't wait to hear from you all and see how all of this goes!
  12. Hello everyone! I wanted to start a post for anyone interested in the University of Minnesota's Master of Nursing program, 2017 cohort. I just submitted my application and wanted to have a space where we can discuss the process, ask questions, or just nerd out about nursing!! I am so excited to see what happens this spring and wish all of you the best! A few questions to start some discussion: how are you feeling about the application process so far? What past or current experiences are you excited to offer the 2017 cohort? How long did NursingCAS take to verify your application after submission, and have you experienced any issues with the system? Any other questions or topics you want to add, please share!
