military time?

Nurses General Nursing

I've been a nurse 18 years and have worked for 2 hospitals and 2 agencies, and military time has always been standard. My current agency says we can no longer use military time! And the director said that many places are getting away from military time. Is this accurate? Do you use military time where you work? It seems strange to me not to use military time...To me there is less chance of time confusion with military time.

Kind of like some countries clutching on to imperial when metric is obviously the better method right?

I know I'll get trashed for this, but I wish the US would convert to metric, so much easier to deal with.

Me too!

I just started a new job, and they dont use military time, WHY??? Because some employees dont know how to use.........:banghead:

I see the same thing where I work, although our computer documentation is on military time.

If you can't count to 24, you probably shouldn't be in nursing. :D

I'm "bipolar." When I get in my car to go to a Pt's home, I use imperial, cause we get reimbursed by the mile. When I get to the Pt's home, back to metric for drug dosages, wound measurements, etc.

Back home, I grab by measuring cup to follow the recipe to pour out 4 oz of olive oil to make a salad dressing.

No wonder I don't always know if I'm going or coming. :clown:

My proposal for the initial step in converting the US to metric--keep track of distance traveled by klicks, and still get reimbursed at the mileage rate. Pain, instantly converted to gain! :D

A number of years ago, I was in Calgary in Sept on business, staying at a downtown hotel. The clock radio woke me as planned, and said the temp was 7 degrees. HOLY COW!

I looked out the window, in my still-sleep-befuddled state, to find people on the street were wearing suit coats, sweaters, etc. These people are tough!

Finally dawned (no pun intended of course) on me that, gee it was mid-40s.
