Military Nursing- but which branch?!

Specialties Government

Hey all!

I started researching and am starting to get a little overwhelmed with the options and possibilities of military nursing. Overwhelmed makes it sound negative, these are NOT negative feelings. I am excited, but a little confused about where to start.

I spent six year in the Navy as a nuke EM, and think I want to rejoin after I graduate in May 2016. I'm not sure if one branch is easier to get into. I do know that it seems quite difficult to join as a nurse after graduation (direct accession).

I would love any advice, personal experiences, etc. Right now I am pretty much open to any branch- Navy, AF, or Army.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

We moved your thread to the Government/Military Nursing forum for the best response.

Good luck with your decision(s).

As you guess every branch is over capacity and very difficult to join regardless of prior service. I have read on here the Air Force might be a little more forgiving with slots though especially for new grads.

The Air Force might be the easiest to get into these days, especially for new grads. The first step is to talk to a healthcare recruiter. You need to start the application process ASAP. It takes nearly a year from start to entrance into the military.
