Military experience qualify for challenging the State Board

Nurses LPN/LVN

Updated:   Published

My name is Jason and I am originaly from FL then moved to VA now in Jacksonville, NC. I am in the Marine Corps Reserve and between deployments I have earned my LPN.

I am interested in any good jobs in this area?

Also, my wife has been a Navy Corpsman for over 5 years and would like to challenge a board to become an LPN as well. Does anyone know of any state that will allow this?

Thanks,

Jason

Hello, Jason,:Melody:

No. In order to be licensed as an LPN, the individual must complete the required courses of a full nursing program.

California will allow a corpsman to challenge the LVN exam, and if passed, the license would only be good in CA, and could not be endorsed to any other state.

Yes, the STATE OF CALIFORNIA accepts NAVY CORPSMAN training but you have to have MEDICAL SURGICAL OR INPATIENT BACKGROUND for at least ONE YEAR. I am challenging the BOARD and taking the test soon. Check this website for the requirements www.bvnpt.ca.gov HOPE THIS HELPS!

To my knowledge, California is the only state that will allow you to challenge the boards without having completed nursing school.
