36 yrs old pregnant clinet has mild contractions and bleef profusely from her lady parts from the given data what is happening to the pateint???

1)placenta previa

2)abruptio placenta

3)advanced labor with heavy show

4)fetal bleeding from a ruptured fetal vessel......

pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee answerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........

need more info--- how far along is the patient (early vs. late gestation)? is the bleeding painless? bright or dark red? is the abdomen boardlike or soft? etc...

based only on what you said I'd guess previa, because an abruption CAN be painful (although isn't always) and advanced labor involves strong contractions. I ruled out the fetal bleeding one just because it doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm really torn between A and B though.

Pull out your L&D textbook. Look-up all four options and then make an educated decision. If you're studying L&D, you need to know all of these. You will also learn why you need more information than what is given. If you're just given answers here rather than learning the material, these conditions will not cease to mean just options A,B,C,D

Previa, but point out to your instructor it doesn't matter too much. Bleeding profusely- treat for shock, and to the OR ASAP, no matter what the diagnosis is.

Are all these multiple choice questions hopelss or is it just me?
