Can anyone recommend a great graduate school in the midwest for CNM? And is it better to do an online program than attending classes at the facility?
I'm interested in the masters level midwifery programs and was just wondering. I 've noticed that Univiersity of Cincinnatti has an online program, and so does Frontier Nursing. How one goes about getting your clinical experience from them.
I'm thinking of doing it on a part-time basis. And do you have to be working in L&D to apply, because I'm presently working in med-surg. thanks.

University of Illinois at Chicago and Marquette also have programs. Check out www.allnursingschools.com and you can do a search for programs.

I believe the other U of I campuses (Rockford, Champaign-Urbana and Peoria) may also offer the CNM option.
Best wishes.

Hi! If you go under the tab above of "specialty" and then "advanced practice nurses", there is a forum just for CNM's. There is a ton of info and you can get all kinds of good advice. Good luck!

I am a little interested in Frontier also! They require one year of nursing experience before admission, but the website does not specify that it has to be in L&D.
I was recently accepted to Frontier and do not have any L&D experience...so they will definitely consider other types. Good luck! I am really excited about Frontier--I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the school.
