Middle Georgia State University Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I created this thread because I found the previous threads bout the ASN and BSN at MGA to be very helpful and wanted to start a similar post for the upcoming Spring 2021 ASN/BSN program. Who has already applied and if you feel like sharing what were your stats? If anyone has previously been accepted, please feel free to share your thoughts, experiences and advice for us aspiring nurses!

I applied to both BSN and ASN! I made a 77 on the TEAS and I have a 3.2 GPA. I’ve been reading all the posts about the previous cohorts too, which one did you apply to?

@Aspiringnursingstudent2021 I applied to both as well. I wasn't planning on taking micro this semester but it has to be completed prior to starting your BSN and I didn't want to " leave all my eggs in one basket" per say with only applying to the ASN program. My GPA is a 3.1 and I made an 80 on my TEAS. I really don't think my GPA is high enough for the BSN but I'm hopeful for the ASN program and ironically is what I prefer. I already have a B.S in healthcare administration so another B.S makes my pockets tighten. LOL From what I have read our stats are above average so hopefully we both get in!

I think that was a great idea, micro was actually my favorite compared to anatomy LOL and hopefully! I definitely think we have a good chance for ASN. Do you know about when we should expect to hear something?

It was opposite for me, I love A&P. LOL I'm not certain but I'm assuming letters will be sent out in Oct sometime. I seen somewhere on here that during the 2018/2019 cohort, they were sent out the week of Oct 26th so I'm assuming it will be around that time for us also. Over 2 months is certainly a long time to wait but I'm going to try and not get myself anxiety over it and focus on getting an A in micro.

Hey! I applied to the ASN. I ddI HORRIBLE on the TEAS. I took it twice and made a 60.7 BOTH TIMES! I’m so bombed because I really tried. Science and English was my worst ! The study packet in the ATI website did not really help me prepare well! I took the practice exams and scored really well on both of them but when I took the actually TEAS that test was harder ! My GPA is a 3.3. I don’t think I’m going to get in. The lady told me that they look at the science portion. And I made a 53 in that portion when the average is 57. Just giving my stats.

Also, I would like to add that my friend went to this school got into the ASN program with a 3.4 and a 63 on the TEAS. I guess it depends on the other applicants stats. She is now a new grad nurse in Texas. She is the main reason why I’m applying because I knew my stats were low and I’ve been looking for schools that look at your highest grades and not really crazy about the TEAS.

@AshReady2021 I agree, I think it does depend on other applicants stats, the only definite is the GPA requirements. Your GPA is strong.  What prep book did you use? I ordered my  API book off Amazon and it helped alot! I took my 1st TEAS test in April and didn't really study much besides what we were covering in A&P1, made a 73. After really following that book for a solid month, reviewing all the systems and functions, I re-took my TEAS in May and made an 80.

Hey! I purchased the ATI prep packet A&B test and the anatomy test on the ATI website. It’s been a while since I’ve taken any prerequisites... so yes, I’ve forgotten a lot of things. My science had a mixture of anatomy but more so physiology and biology. My English was horrible and reading confused me my math was good though. I’m hopeful, but who knows. I have al my prerequisites completed for the BSN but did not apply due to my TEAS score that’s why I applied for ASN.

@AshReady2021 yeah the 1st time I did my worst in science and grammar usage. I guess we will have to wait and see. It's such a long waiting game. I applied 2 both the ASN and BSN and was enrolled to take Micro this semester but actually got accepted into CGTC's ASN program the 1st week of school at MGA, so I dropped Mirco and just taking A&P2 now. I literally applied to just about every program that I could within a 60 mile radius. LOL I feel like I have a good chance at the ASN program- then I will have to figure out which one I want to go to.

Hey guys! I also applied to the ASN program for 2021. My GPA is around 3.4, and my TEAS score is a 70.7. I am not sure about my odds for getting in. I have gotten into the program before, but once I wasn’t living in the area at the time and another, my financial situation wouldn’t allow me to get the necessary things to start the program. I have been accepted with a TEAS 73 and same GPA as now, but rejected with a 76.7 and 3.4 GPA, so it definitely depends on the averages of GPA and TEAS of people applying and how many people are actually applying. Good luck to everyone! ❤️

Hey guys!
just sharing my stats with you. I applied for BSN Spring 2021.
GPA: 3.67
Science GPA: 3.3
TEAS: 69.3
I don't know if my chances are high with my low TEAS score I hope my GPA can balance it out a little! Good luck everyone! ?
