I'm taking Microbiology and Pharmacology pre-reqs over the summer session but the courses are 11 weeks long (vs. 16 weeks in the Fall or Spring term) and have several young kids at home.
I would base my decision largely on the time frame (how compressed the class is) and what else was happening in my life (kids, family, work commitments). Might also check out one of the professor rating sites online to see if any students who have taken the summer Micro class in the past at your school recommend taking it in the shortened session.
I completely understand trying to balance your desire for a good grade/class experience with wanting to be finished so you can apply!
Best wishes on your decision! :wink2:
I am taking Micro over the summer too. My is a compressed six week course. I am taking A&P II second summer sessions for six weeks as well. Definitely could not do them both at the same time. I work full time and have two kids age 11 & 13. Kudos to you guys with little kids cause I am not sure I could do it with my kids that young.
I am taking Micro this summer, too! We will all have to stick together. I am psyched- class starts next week. I already read ch 1 and I plan to get through at least 1 more chapter before classes start Thursday. I have a 12 month old and a 4 year old so I am trying to get ahead before I get behind I considered taking this w/ A&P 2 this summer and I changed my mind and I am glad I am taking this course by itself!

Hello,
I am new to the forum and really need some advice! I have been contemplating about taking Microbio over the summer and I am not too sure if I should. I have done well in my science classes in the past and Microbio is the last pre req that I have for nursing school. If I take it over the summer, I can apply for Spring 2010. If i take it in the fall, I cannot attend until Fall 2010. I am really hoping to earn an A. What should I do? Should I wait or just take it now to get it over with. GPA matters for the school I am applying to. Please advice.
Thanks!
