Microbiology Practice Exam...

Published

So I took the form A Microbiology Practice Exam.. And I got a 46% lol! so tragic I had to laugh.. In my favor I have only been studying for about 10 days. Hopefully in 3 more weeks or so I will get a hundred! :)

It did give me an idea of how to better tailor my studying though. I'm spending waaayy too much time on Introduction to Micro.. I gotta move on!

I don't know if my comment will be helpful or not but.........I also scored really low on the practice exams and had to reschedule my test several times because I was convinced that I wouldn't pass. After postponing several times I passed with a C. I read a post from someone who said that he thought he had failed the exam while he was taking it but wound up with a B. He also said that he had a friend that took the exam at the same time and he thought that he failed too, but also passed. His explanation was that there must have been a "curve" applied to this exam. I so don't want to encourage anyone to prematurely take this exam, because it is difficult and you have to know your stuff!! You have to study!! The dilemma for me is always, am I prepared? I just took Anatomy & Physiology and had to reschedule that one too. By the next week, I was so sick of A&P that I couldn't wait to take that test and wound up with a B. So, for me, I'm planning on using that strategy as I go through the nursing exams. Being sick of the material will hopefully be a green light for knowing the material and being ready to test and if I'm anxious, I need to reschedule. I realize that is very subjective so take that with a grain of salt!

Are you taking it from/through Excelsior or another college? Just wondering as I am getting ready to start the program. Thank you.

I did most of my general ed requirements through CLEP, but did my math requirement through ALEKS(you can search that thread) and did MICRO & A&P through Excelsior.

That's funny! I just sent back probably 5 A&P books to Amazon! Every time I would read a post about a book that somebody used, I'd order it. A&P coloring book, the study guide, Cliff Notes etc. I laughed when you said all that you were using. You'll do well!! Make sure you flag a question if you aren't sure you know the answer and don't spend a lot of time on it. Just flag it and go on. After you've gone through the entire test, go back and answer the flagged ones. You might find a few hints that will help you answer those flagged questions. Good luck!!

Hi,

Which ALEKS Math course did you take? Wondering if 'Higher Education Basic Math' would fulfill the requirement??

Thanks!

Hi Barbara,

I took Intermediate Algebra. I don't know about that particular course, but I would definitely ask an advisor to see if they'll accept it. Here's a thread that talks about ALEKS and has their website and information about having the course transferred. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Thank you! I'll check that out, and also contact an ECE advisor...

Good luck to you!! :)

Um, I scored a 48 initially and a 50 on form B. But I passed the real deal with a B....imagine that. Its pretty broad, but one of the more interesting topics. You will be a huge "germaphobic" (if thats even a word) once you finish studying.

Hi Nervous1... I got a 54 on practice test A, then Excelsior completely changed the format of the practice tests. When I went back to look at it for review, the timer started ticking, so I took it over. 89. Then on practice test B, which I just completed tonight, I got 66.

I have the exam scheduled for 3/8, but I still don't feel like I'm ready... I'll be studying a bunch in the next couple weeks... It is really very interesting.

Hope all is well with you... BSN next??!! WOW!! :)

Thanks! I'm studying my butt off :)

Me too! Getting ready for first exam... Micro... on 3/8! :bookworm:
