Micro exam approaching...still need a good text!

Published

I am taking the Excelsior Microbiology exam in a month and a half. I have the recommended study guide, Cliffs notes, Microbiology Demystified, Micro the Easy way on its way, etc. I still cannot find a book that breaks down the "anatomy" of Procaryotes and Eukaryotes that well, it is all so complicated. Are there any text suggestions out there? Is the official $180 text necessary to truly grasp this? I truly appreciate any suggestions! I have always taken lecture courses, this is my first independant study, and it is way more difficult than I thought it would be.

A good text book that I used for micro and really liked is called Microbiology by Bauman 2nd edition. You can get the international version I did and it's the exact same thing as the US edition and way cheaper. HTH and Good Luck.

I found alot of info online at various sites after searching prokaryotes and eukaryotes. I don't recall that my professor dwelled on their anatomy, just what they are and their differences. good luck!

have you checked on all the online micro links on post #45 of this sticky thread: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pathophysiology-p-microbiology-145201.html - pathophysiology/ a & p/ microbiology/ fluid & electrolyte resources?

Also, download itunes and use their college program to find lectures on any of the subjects you find difficult. Most are free. Right now I am taking micro and i just downloaded lectures from MIT to help me with DNA recombination.

Good luck!
