Nursing Students SRNA

Hi! Haven’t seen a thread for MSU CRNA DNP 2020 program, so thought I’d start one. Any other applicants on here? Has anyone received an invitation to interview? Interviews are being held August 19-23 and the 26th, and they’re supposed to notify those who receive invites in early August... I know a few other applicants and none of them have heard anything either. Getting anxious! Any other info or insights on MSU’s program or their interview process would be great!

What were your stats if you don’t mind sharing?

2.5 years Level 1 Trauma SICU at the time of my interview (preceptor but no charge experience)

3.96 BSN GPA, 3.4 ADN, and cumulative GPA of just over 3.5 (nursing was a second career for me).

CCRN, CMC, TCRN certs plus TNCC and I was a TNCC instructor

Both healthcare and non-healthcare volunteer experience

Shadowed 4 times in a variety of settings

I had been accepted elsewhere prior to my MSU interview and was wait listed at MSU. They called me right before Thanksgiving to offer me a spot and I took it (MSU was my #1 choice).

They want to see what you’re made of during the interview, but they also made small talk with me and were friendly. Just be yourself and be honest.

School is going well so far. I quit my job prior to starting the program so I would have plenty of time to study.

Does the interview encompass both get to know you questions and a critical care assessment?

Also, how has your experience at MSU been? Would you choose MSU again if you could do it over?

Lastly, how easy is it getting your case requirements? Do you have to compete with anesthesia residents for getting cases?

Thanks in advance!!

Anyone hear anything yet?

Thank you for finding this and including this in the thread. I'm worried I haven't heard anything of course, hopefully more notifications go out tomorrow.

Hi, was wondering if anyone who interviewed last year would mind giving some insight on the interview process? Is it more of a know your specialty and clinical based over personality?

Any insight would be so helpful ?

Hi cakeandcrown, I was recently accepted for the class of 2021. I was wondering if you could pm or email me on why MSU was your first choice ? I have been accepted to other programs and am really leaning towards MSU and one other program but due to interviews not being in person, minimal time to talk to current students, and barely any info on the web I’m trying to find people to talk to about their experiences so far!

Can anyone who accepted their offer and currently attend MSU's CRNA program provide some insight?

What are your thoughts on the program and would you recommend it?

What do you wish they did better and what do they do well?

Thanks!
