Any Everest Institute lpn graduates out there?

No I went to Everest for medical assisting program. It was a waste of money...most people hated it but had already spent the money so they couldn't get out of it. I was only a medical assistant for 6 months cause then I went to nursing school. But the lpn program is probably different. That was not an option at my school. How long is that program?

My mom is an RN at a Hospice facility. She has mentioned that they have at least a couple of LPN's there from Everest. I checked into the program but found out the cost was more than triple of the local community college so I held out and am starting the LPN program this fall at the CC. Good Luck in your career!!

Hello! Are there any Everest Institute (Southfield Mi) grads out there? I am starting the lpn program May 11th :yeah:and I am looking to get some insight on how the program is and what to expect. I did speak to some people currently in the program while I was on campus and I heard positive feedback, but it wasn't like a one on one conversation just casual talk while I was being taken on a tour of the campus by an adviser. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. Any advice out there? :plsebeg:

I was thinking about going there. How's the program coming along 4 u?? Is it the Southfield campus. Do u feel its worth ur time cause everyone i hear keeps dissing them 4 the cost of the program

4ash, I am currently finishing up level one. It is an intense program, but I like it. Yes it is expensive but most of the people who are complaining about cost are still waiting to get in somewhere if they can actually get in (due to competition). I look at it this way, I don't mind the cost, it will get me my license. Its better than waiting around for 2 or three years to get in somewhere else. I am no spring chicken, I will be 40 in two weeks and I didn't want to waste anymore time. Everest has 3 full time LPN programs per year, Jan, May and Sept, plus they are getting ready to implement a 2 year part time evening program as well for people who still need to work. As far as the tuition, I have a Mi grant, a scholarship and no worker left behind to help with tuition. All that pretty much cut my loans in half. I would suggest you check out Everest for yourself and then decide, don't listen to what people tell you. Well good luck to you in wherever you land. :nurse:

JennaML2, all you need is a high school diploma or GED, and you need to pass the compass and PSB tests. The like to see some type of medical experience but it is not required.

Hi Hopesgramcracker

I was wondering if you could offer me some information about Everest LPN once you have passed all the tests. I am awaiting the last step which is the interview with the Director of Nursing. What can I expect that day? How long is the interview, what type of questions I might be able to expect and is there anything else I should be prepared for on that day of the interview?? I know they mentioned they do a background check and drugscreen I think, etc. Do we have to go to a clinic and pay for that and when is all that conducted? Do they let you know if you are accepted that day? Ok lots of questions I know but any information would be helpful. How is school going? Admissions weren't detailed except said to wear a suit.

Hi Doodles01, the interview doesn't last all that long, and the drug screening and background check is paid for by your deposit I believe. You will not find out if you are accepted that day, a letter wil be mailed to you probably in December sometime. I can tell you to be on your toes for your interview there are ALOT of applicants this time around and I hear that the info seminars are standing room only now. They are also changing some requirements as far as having a medical background it will be a requirement not just a plus on your application. Good luck to you! :up:

Thank you for the response. So you are saying that if I haven't worked in the medical field that I have no chance of being accepted to the program? Now I have major concerns since I have not officially been employed in the healthcare field. Please let me know where you heard that information as far as medical exp. being a requirement to be accepted.

doodles01, no i am not saying that for january 2010, from what others have told me, it will be future applicants that will have this requirement, they really didn't say if it would be the spring 2010 or fall 2010 applicants when it will start. you have already been through the whole process at this point, i would not worry about it.
