For those of you who don't want to wait to take your boards, there is an alternative!

I am applying to take my NCLEX-RN for Minnesota and then endorse in to Michigan. I hope to be eligible and receive my ATT by the end of this coming week and test immediately (within a couple of days) and then endorse in when I pass.

Michigan DOES MAKE YOU WAIT until your conferral date, but if you test outside of the state, you can endorse in much easier. You simply have to apply for endorsement, request a Nursys verification, and your license should be available much sooner.

I called the board this last week and they told me it would have been January until I would have been able to sit. I start a brand new RN position on Monday and I simply can't wait that long.

Clearly this is all an estimate, not set in stone, but I wanted to make a few people aware of this, as I was blind about this and didn't know myself.

Good luck.

Can you apply after the CPNE? I live in delaware and you have to wait for conferral. Please tell me the steps. Great Info!:yeah:

just a friendly advice:

please do consider and research how long your state bon process license endorsement. thank god my state of new jersey does not need the conferral date so i was able to take the nclex prior to graduation but if new jersey required my conferral date and i had applied at minnesota and endorse my license to new jersey, it would take new jersey 2-3 months to give me a license. i hope michigan bon does not take that long because it would not make sense paying all this extra fees and wait the same amount of time to be licensed as a registered nurse in your own state.

good luck with your nclex. it will be a piece of cake after all these exams from ec and the cpne.

how are you able to start your rn position this monday without having an actual rn license? are you working as a gn maybe?

yes if cpne is your last requirement and only after ec process your papers and says you are officially done. also ec needs you to have 0 balance with them and have the graduation fee paid. then, you have to sign a request form and send it to ec asking/authorizing them to send the letter of qualification (loq) to your respective bon and then only then excelsior will send the loq.

my understanding is that michigan simply verifies the license that you have in the other state and endorses you in. that is what they told me on the phone and through email.

michigan needs to revamp it's bon offices. currently some people say they get their att's immediately, others wait months to get them. same thing for endorsement. ymmv for each person i guess. they need to make it uniform across the map though.

for me, all my employer cares about, is that i have passed the nclex luckily, so i have that going for me as well. i can do my job as an lpn, but the prefer to have an rn, and they just want to see that i have passed my boards.

that is cool that michigan will license you quickly. stupid nj up to now still has not sent my actual paper license to me even though i already have an rn license number on their verification website. and my job won't upgrade me to rn until i have my actual paper license and show it to them. my license number online is not acceptable according to them. it sucks and i am so frustrated because i took the nclex-rn last october 4th and i am still working as an lpn up to now. i called the nj bon and all they say is it will come in the mail. sorry about the vent. i hope your process goes much smoother compared to mine.

Hi, I am new to Excelsior and want to know if there are any students from Michigan who would be interested to give me some pointers or possibly would like to study together (chatrooms, phone or email group study)
