Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Hi everyone,

So happy to have found this thread! I no longer have to stress this on my own lol

I applied to both the accelerated and full time generic. Both of my gpas were 3.3 so that has me worried but all I can do now is play the waiting game. So relieved it's almost October!!!!! Best of luck to everyone :)

Hi there and welcome to the forum. You are not alone in this journey! Good luck.

@Ferdre- Great info; everyday I am am happier that I know about this forum. It really helps me to keep abreast of the many things that are happening. Did you receive the info via email, or is it posted on the nursing site?

Hey everybody!! 3 more weeks I can't wait! By the way MDC has officially updated the orientation dates and the response form for the upcoming Spring 2015 , so far the first to have their orientation is the Bridge program: November 6, second the homestead and medical fulltimers will have theirs on November 20, and lastly the AO program will have theirs on Nov. 21

The only thing that has not been updated is the Boot camps and the Pearson test.

Mark your calendars!!

Hi I have been following this forum for some time now and as everyone I have been very anxious, I applied for the bridge option.

Now I'm confused (like always :$) I knew about the orientation and boot camp but the Pearson test?

What is that should I start reviewing something?, what are they testing you in?

I'm glad you find the info useful NURKeish! The info is actually posted in the website but is hard to find because that's the link they send to the accepted applicants, I believe is only meant to be seen by accepted applicants, but with a little digging and looking around other forums I was able to find it. Not having new info makes me anxious so I always look for it lol.

Thanks, hang in there guys. Positive thinking all the way

Hello and welcome!! The Pearson test the basics like math science reading, etc. It does not count towards anything, but the college uses it to measure knowledge and how well the program is doing, student take this test twice, during admission and before graduation I believe. Also if I'm not mistaking Pearson also provides the agency that supplies the NCLEX. But is nothing to worry about

@ferdre OMg thanks lol... Yeah i knew Pearson gives the NCLEX, when I read this I thought it counts for something, I guess I can relax about that and his worry about if I got in! ?

Hi everyone. I'm so glad to have found this forum here. Just a bit concerned now since I read about the orientation dates in November. Does anyone know if they ever make any exceptions for people who cannot attend it? I cannot imagine that there are never people who just simply cannot attend due to prior commitments. My problem is I still work full time until the program starts and I have a business trip over those dates that I can't get out of... :-/. ugh.

If you don't attend the Orientation, most likely they would not let you register for the program. My suggestion is that you need to change whatever obligation you have for that day. They are really strict with attendance in the Nursing Program.

Me too, i coulnd wait and I call today just to ask them when they were going to start sending emails amd they told me no yet but starting oct 1st to start checking the emails everyday ( I already check my email at least 3 times per day lol) and that was it. I already know that is around Oct 15 that they are going to send out emailS

Hi Lili. I need your advise. I'm ready to apply in January 2015. Do you suggest applying right away or wait a month before ? I don't know what to do. Just in case the lose my application. Omg so many things come to my mind. But I have been practicing positive thinking and affirmations that I will start in 2015.

You want to apply to fall 2015? If so the applications are due on May 1st I believe. So there is no much rush to apply, also I don't think they will take an application so ahead of time but you can always check.
