Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Hi, I applied for generic part-time nursing program and I received the email about the acceptance into the program yesterday(June 9th). My science GPA is 3.75 and I did pretty good on the admission test. On the test I didn't get a great score in math and chemistry but in anatomy section I got 88, Vocabulary, reading, and grammar 84 and microbiology 82. I applied last year also but I wasn't accepted at that time. Those of you admitted to the program I am excited to meet you all

Hi, I was recently accepted in the MDC generic part time program. I got 90% in the Hesi test. The most stressful thing for me was the time( you have almost a minute per question). The study guide recommended by MDC( 3rd edition was good enough). Please let me know if any of you will be joining the program next August is good to be in contact. Good luck!

Hiii... What program did you apply for?

I am thinking of applying for the Spring semester of 2017. The deadline is on September 1. I took the HESI a couple of weeks ago and scored an 85. My Science GPA is a 3.5. Looking at the comments from the people that applied a year ago gives me hope. Most of them got in with very similar scores as the ones I have now. However, for some reason it seems to be getting harder and harder to get in. I am currently registered to take the exam for a second time on August 16. Wish me luck.

That's a great score why are you taking it again? I've heard the second time you take the HESI it's really hard. You can only take the HESI 3 times in your life time don't use it up. I got an 84 and got in.

I did not score so good on the Anatomy section of the test my first time around I ended up getting only a 56. I am scared that they might look at that as a negative when it comes time for admission. I scored very well in the rest of the sections but i completely bombed the Anatomy. I really, really want to get into the MDC program since it is a good program and considerably cheaper than the alternatives.

Ooooo ok... I understand now. Go with your gut feeling. If it's to take the test again then do it. I understand you. My best scores were in the sciences but if I would have gotten a low score I would have taken it again too. Good Luck! You got this! Lol

Does anyone know what we have to redo for complio besides the FLU shot? I did all my stuff back in November so they expire in November.

I actually did the HESI again yesterday. Got a 91 overall and an 80 on Anatomy. Much better than last time. Feel a lot more comfortable now.

Congrats on your score..did you apply for the spring semester 2017?

Yes, I did. I applied for the full time. Crossing my fingers hoping that I get accepted. The advisor said it would take between 4 to 8 weeks after September 1 to get an answer.
