MI HPRP frustrations!

I have been sober for 4 1/2 years. I entered into the HPRP program after having over 2 years sobriety. I have had negative drug screens for 2 1/2 years that I have been in the program. Since the new company took over in Sept, 2012, it has been a complete nightmare. My previous case manager obviously did not document anything, nor did she request anything that I seemed to be missing (yet didn't know it). They have now extended my contract another 2 years even though I have had negative drug screens. I am so frustrated and ready to leave the program. I am tired of being a prisoner to the program!! My current job doesn't even require an RN license, I just am not ready to give up my license. Does anyone know the repercussions of dropping out of HPRP? Thank you!

I was in a contract with HPRP for 1 year several years ago. I was told if I chose not to comply I would be referred to the BON & would most likely lose my license.

I was in a contract with HPRP. After 5 years of sobriety and a contractor turn-over, they wanted me to go through IOP. I couldn't afford it, so I left nursing. I'm sober and happy. I work at a law firm that defends insurance companies against injury "victims". I am respected by my coworkers, I don't have to worry about working around opiates (my drugs of no choice), and I don't have to be embarrassed or humiliated by group meetings or supervisor reports.

The repercussions of dropping out are losing your license to practice nursing in the state of Michigan and every other state in the union. Do what you have to do, but be prepared for some serious backlash.

When you are in a program, YOU are responsible for leaving a paper or e-mail trail with your case manager. Assume that they are going to lose everything and conduct this relationship in a totally business-like way. You should have copies of every drug screen you ever took. If you want to give up your license in every state, feel free not to comply or accept that YOU messed up and start over again. Only you can answer the question. Part of recovery is accepting blame and not passing it on to someone else. I know your anger and frustration but don't screw up your future because you are tired of urine screens. Lots of states require 5 years of screens so 2 and 1/2 is pretty lenient.
