Hello! No forum for this cycle yet, so I figured I would start one ?

Who else is applying?!

Hi! I applied to the pediatric specialty. This school is my top choice and I am so anxious to hear back!

Hi Leah- I have been looking at this program, but there isn't a whole lot out there on it, some of the previous years threads cast a little doubt on the program for me, it looked like there was an issue with psych specialty. Between that and no thread for this year, and this one doesn't seem to busy –– I was wondering why it is your top choice? I totally get the pediatric specialty although I am more interested in women's health.

Hello,

I applied to the MGH DEN NP Program (20-21). I am anticipating a positive reply from Admissions.

Best to all applying.

I'm a current student in this program if anyone has questions!

@WMO358 Hi! Thank you for offering to answer questions. I would love to know:

Why you chose MGH?

What you think of the program?

Which specialty?

And any I am so glad I chose this program because or regrets?

From my understanding most programs have record breaking admissions applications submitted this year, which is wonderful. Given that I am a little surprised this thread is not a little more active, it seems to have been in previous years. I hope this year has been a good one- even in with the challenges of covid.

Hi,

I looked at and applied to about 10 of these programs and ultimately chose MGH because of the proximity to so many hospitals, the fact that all of your clinical placements are done for you, and the fact that you could choose a specialty besides FNP and would also graduate ready to take the board exam unlike some other programs. I am in the pediatric track but in the first year of the program, all students have classes together regardless of specialty.

So far I am very happy with the program. All of the professors I have had so far are SO knowledgeable about the subject they are teaching and are so willing to do whatever they can to help students succeed. There are so many resources outside of class I feel like I don't even have time to take advantage of all of them. I have been doing NCLEX practice questions that go along with the topics we are covering in class and have had no problem with those so far. The clinical experience has been great, the first two semesters of med-surg clincals are at MGH and I didn't hear a single negative thing about anyone's clinical. From my experience and what   I have heard, all of the clinical instructors were great. Mine did a great job getting us to see as much as possible during the first semester and was so willing to explain any question I had. They also don't expect you to know anything ahead of time but also don't make you feel like you don't know anything. In the classes, we covered basically the same topics/body systems in all classes at the same time which I really think help the material stick.

Also, I think they have done a great job with COVID and having things online. We have access to free covid testing whenever we want and all students are also able to get the vaccine if they want. Honestly, I have no regrets so far.

@WMO358 Thank you it is nice to hear positive information. One more thing, I could probably keep going all day- but I won't. With online learning and the cost of the program- do you feel like you are getting your monies worth? I know that seems to be an ongoing issue with a lot of other programs.

Hi Everyone!

I applied to MGH IHP's direct entry MSN program as well for the family NP track! I haven't heard anything back yet so far since I applied, has anyone else? I know they extended their deadline to February 1st for applications this cycle but they also mentioned that they would still review the applicants that applied by December 1st beforehand!

Also, if any other current students have any insight into the timeline for the application process after submitting (I.e. if there were interviews offered, when acceptances were received, financial aid packages)? Thanks so much ?

Hi! I went back and reread my letter from them that I received after submitting my application. It says that those of us who applied before the 12/1 deadline should hopefully hear no later than 2/1. THAT IS SO SOON! I haven't heard back yet either and I am anxiously waiting. Do you know if we hear via email or regular mail?

Hi @LeahChelsea !

Oh wow so soon! Time really flies LOL. That's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't heard back either though!

I believe we hear back via email. I think I read in one of the threads from a previous year that that's how students were informed but I'm not 100% certain. I've heard some schools now though are letting people know about acceptance and financial aid through email given all that's been going on with the pandemic.

Hi, current student here. We found out last year via email and your acceptance email also told you if you were awarded a scholarship or not and a second email a few days later gave scholarship information.
