Hello,
I am new to this forum. I am starting my application for MGH Accelerated BSN for Spring 2014. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Any alumni, what has been your experience so far?
I have a BS and MBA. I work as a clinical research specialist at a hospital. I took A&P I and nutrition. I am taking micro lab (summer 2013) and A&P II in fall 2013. I have taken other pre requites already.
Is the MGH program better than UMASS/MCPHS/Curry? MGH ($59K) is expensive than UMASS ($26K), am I looking at the right tuition??
People may be having a tougher time finding jobs at the Boston hospitals because they usually want nurses with more experience .. I live a little less than an hour south of Boston and no the hospitals aren't as prestigious but they are definitely hiring as well as a lot of Rhode island hospitals. So I think it depends on if your set on working in Boston right away or not
If you go to the website and look under current students and then newly admitted students you should see something about orientation schedules or something and it's there.. then I just looked at the newest academic calendar. I pretty much searched around the entire website for anything I could find haha
I just got the notification that I got wait listed for MGH Spring 2014 start. I was really looking forward to getting accepted but now I will just have to wait and see. Did anyone else get wait listed and/or know people that have gotten accepted that decided not to follow through with the program?
Hey SD -
I think you're right on track with Somerville ....but check out mbta.com for specific subway stops....
when searching places to stay you'll do yourself a favor if you can step outside and only spend a few minutes walking to the subway station...last winter was brutal we got a couple of storms with 3 feet plus of snow..10 below zero is not outdoor funtime...
not that classes wouldn't be cancelled but unless your from Minnesota you will cherish every degree of warmth come January..Also don't even think about commuting...the expressway (express) huh!! ironic....gets backed up during rush hour and you WILL miss your classes.....classes are at 7am and that's when the traffic is worst...you'd have to leave at 5am to arrive on time blehhh!!!
Finally North station (a stop on the subway) is where the shuttle to MGH IHP stops for students and its free so take advantage and save a ton of $$$$.hope this helps...

skhan don't give up because of what you've heard. I didn't think I would get into the accelerated nursing program because it was incredibly competitive, but I made it. I think getting a job after the program will be all up to you and how hard you work for it.
