Mercy University ABSN Fall 2023

Published

Hey everyone! I was recently accepted into the Accelerated BSN program 2 days ago! I haven't seen any threads so far of any one stating they've been accepted or decided to commit. I'm just kinda nervous in regards to a few things so I wanted to see what others were thinking or if anyone has more info on the program. I need testimonials btw the NCLEX pass rate and the cost of tuition.. is it really worth it. The only thing is it's the only place I've heard back fr and they want the deposit end of the week.. I was waiting on a SUNY but I don't feel like waiting to hear back would be a good idea. My uncle is a nurse & got into my head ab cost, loans etc as this is my 2nd degree.. So I'm kinda starting this just to get others talking and see what yall are thinking & if any previous students see this post feel free to comment.

My is the day session. Thank You!

Have they given you all a schedule yet? I am curious about the program times. I have children in school and I want to make sure this program will be right for me.

For the first semester, we are in class Fri 8:30am until about 4pm (4p-6pm is an online medication math course with in person exams that take place during those same hours). Clinicals on Saturdays in the nursing home from 7-12pm OR an evening time slot I don't recall that exact time for evenings) and class from 8:30am til 4pm on Sundays.

Hey

I recently got accepted for the Spring 2024. Any student from Fall 2023 can share their insights on the program. Thank you.

Hiii, first of congratulations on your acceptance, I'm excited for you and your journey!! Finals week is approaching so I will try share my experience so far. Please don't take anything I'm saying as negative, it just is what it is. As with any program, even non-nursing its 80% self-learning. I spent time before the program reviewing & I had good experience so I think that has helped tremendously. I also lucked out with all my professors, I've found them to be very knowledgeable & helpful, but classmates in other sections don't feel the same way. I will say I was disappointed with the sim labs, what they advertise on the website is at the Dobbs Ferry location not Bronx. Not that many open lab hours that correlate with our schedule, they mostly block it out for the medsurg students, but I advocate for my practice time & they recognize that. From what I've seen so far, the cost doesn't equate to the quality but I don't think any school should cost 11k/semester ya know. However the new Dean is all open ears, the faculty receiving the most complaints are on their way out. I do think the syllabus & planning is slightly unorganized, the professors don't make it themselves, so if you ask them a question they literally don't know & you spend a lot of the conversation going in circles. (thats actually what you'll hear from a lot of the staff 'IDK, that's not my department ask so & so')

I also feel like they wait until the last minute to pile work onto us, there's no reason I'm going 2 weeks with no assignments or exams & then all of a sudden I have 3 exams and a project due on one Monday. They need to work on spacing stuff out & they have acknowledged that & say they will be working on that for the incoming Spring semester.

But if you stay on top of your work & your teachers, let them know who you are & that you wanna learn. Participate, prep before class, use the proper resources, I think you will do well.

I jumped around a lot so if you wanna know anything specific lmk.

Everyone has different opinions & I think with their transition to university they are going to be making a lot of changes to keep their standards up & complaints down. If this is your only option obviously go for it & just do what you need to stay focused. If you choose to go there, I'd be happy to connect with you. I want part of my journey to be sharing my experience and knowledge as much as I can.

Thank you so much for the input it was very much appreciated and made me feel better. I also got accepted into Utica University but despite everything I think it better to go to Mercy to avoid having to move upstate. I would also like to connect with you. Let me know if you have Instagram or text. I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Utica was also one of my options a year ago, but I ended up rejecting it bc the reviews were soooo terrible & it didn't seem worth it to uproot my entire life & not know the chances of me passing.

I applied for fall 2024. Praying I get in. Did u decide to go there?

Hey! I also got accepted for the Fall 2024 weekday. Did you get in for the weekend or weekday? I believe registering for classes happens after orientation and through the Mercy Connect account.

Hey there! I was accepted for the Fall 2024 Weekday program as well. Have you heard anything about the program (ie; pros/cons, pass rates, etc...). Trying to get some more info!
