Mercy University ABSN Fall 2024
Hi Kerry, The program is going well, I promise LOL. I'm in my last semester and my views have not changed. Still disorganized but they will help you get over the finish line. They offer many resources to help you and they are hands on (e-mails, study mastery sessions, tons of quizzes and homework). But again, it's so much information that in any accelerated program you will be teaching yourself. There are some gems of teachers and some that absolutely suck. Both the weekday and weekend programs are flexible for working people, kids, divorces, pregnancies and all. The weekend program is suited for someone who works Monday to Friday and Weekday is good for part time flexible night shift people. I feel comfortable with some nursing skills and I didn't come from a healthcare background. I go out of my way to ask questions and I'm proactive about what I understand and don't understand. I'm comfortable taking the NCLEX after a solid month of NCLEX prep (which they also give a weeklong all day book camp after you graduate). What I'm understanding is that you're concerned if you're going to get support? Yes, you will get support. The quality of education is mid but again, if you want to be a nurse in 18 months and be in a flexible program, Mercy is your school.

Mercy University ABSN Spring 2025
I work full time and go to this program on the weekend. Needless to say I have no life but it's doable. I would recommend this program if you want to get your license quick and are ready to teach yourself a lot. Some teachers are amazing and some are not good at all. But I would say I'm very TYPE A so I'm not worried about not passing the NCLEX. We are told the scores go down because of the traditional students, the accelerated students do amazing on the NCLEX I think because we have no time to play around so we really study to understand the nursing concepts.

Mercy University ABSN Program - Weekend Fall 2023
First semester classes are health assessment, pharmacology and fundamentals. Classes for our cohort started at 830 until 4-6. The morning classes are 8:30 to 10:20 and 10:40 to 1240 then lunch . Next class was 1:40 to 340. Then we have an online med math class so you can go home at 340 or stay in the library. But some exams will be held in the 4-6 time slot. You have to keep the Friday open, some of my classmates have flexible work environments. I was able to switch over to 4 10hr shifts Mon-Thurs. you'll have clinicals on Fridays in some semesters. Best of luck.

Mercy University ABSN Fall 2024
Hi guys, I'm a student in the accelerated program at Mercy. About to enter my second semester. The accelerated students pass rate is in the 90s for the NCLEX, the scores come down a bit due to the traditional students. Most people in the accelerated are older (I'm in my 30s) and already have good study habits and the understanding that school is your priority. I will agree with the reviews, admin can be very disorganized. You will be teaching yourself. The reason I chose Mercy was because they accepted my old prerequisites and I could still work during the program. My job was flexible enough. Clinicals were a joke and we didn't get to do much at certain sites, some of my classmates had better experiences. The clinical professors do work with you if you live in BK and the site is in Westchester. They try to put you at a site close to where you live but it's not always guaranteed. They will be letting us choose our clinical sites in Fall 2024 instead of them choosing it for us but it's first come first served. You learn how to be a nurse on the job. If Mercy Bronx is convenient enough for you to get to, it's a program for people who want a second chance and a ton of flexibility with their life in order to get their nursing degree. The biggest plus is the flexibility and how much they will work with you to make sure you pass (even if it's barely). The people who didn't pass the semester in my opinion didn't have good study habits, or didn't seek out help and thought they could just wing it. I have study groups with some of my classmates and we all help each other out, there's no competition (but there's always some people in every cohort with no social skills or training LOL) Good luck! Mercy is great if you can put the BS to the side and do the work to get your degree and become a nurse in 18 months.

Mercy University ABSN Fall 2023
For the first semester, we are in class Fri 8:30am until about 4pm (4p-6pm is an online medication math course with in person exams that take place during those same hours). Clinicals on Saturdays in the nursing home from 7-12pm OR an evening time slot I don't recall that exact time for evenings) and class from 8:30am til 4pm on Sundays.

Mercy University ABSN Fall 2023
Hey! I was recently accepted so I can tell you my very young experience but I also connected with someone who just graduated. They said that the ABSN students have high NCLEX scores but when you combine the scores with the traditional 4 year nursing students, the scores go down. So far, communication has been great. They are giving us the TEAS test post acceptance just in order to gauge our weaknesses and our strengths. Depending on our scores, we would get help of some sort- not sure yet but I think that's great that they didn't require the TEAS but are using it after the fact as a tutoring thing instead of another barrier to entry. I only got 9,500 in federal loans for the first year, fall and Spring (22,106) so the rest will be from my savings/scholarships (if I can get them)/private loans. I'm working while I'm in the program since I'm in the weekend accelerated program. Hope this helps!
