Hiii, first of congratulations on your acceptance, I'm excited for you and your journey!! Finals week is approaching so I will try share my experience so far. Please don't take anything I'm saying as negative, it just is what it is. As with any program, even non-nursing its 80% self-learning. I spent time before the program reviewing & I had good experience so I think that has helped tremendously. I also lucked out with all my professors, I've found them to be very knowledgeable & helpful, but classmates in other sections don't feel the same way. I will say I was disappointed with the sim labs, what they advertise on the website is at the Dobbs Ferry location not Bronx. Not that many open lab hours that correlate with our schedule, they mostly block it out for the medsurg students, but I advocate for my practice time & they recognize that. From what I've seen so far, the cost doesn't equate to the quality but I don't think any school should cost 11k/semester ya know. However the new Dean is all open ears, the faculty receiving the most complaints are on their way out. I do think the syllabus & planning is slightly unorganized, the professors don't make it themselves, so if you ask them a question they literally don't know & you spend a lot of the conversation going in circles. (thats actually what you'll hear from a lot of the staff 'IDK, that's not my department ask so & so')
I also feel like they wait until the last minute to pile work onto us, there's no reason I'm going 2 weeks with no assignments or exams & then all of a sudden I have 3 exams and a project due on one Monday. They need to work on spacing stuff out & they have acknowledged that & say they will be working on that for the incoming Spring semester.
But if you stay on top of your work & your teachers, let them know who you are & that you wanna learn. Participate, prep before class, use the proper resources, I think you will do well.
I jumped around a lot so if you wanna know anything specific lmk.
Everyone has different opinions & I think with their transition to university they are going to be making a lot of changes to keep their standards up & complaints down. If this is your only option obviously go for it & just do what you need to stay focused. If you choose to go there, I'd be happy to connect with you. I want part of my journey to be sharing my experience and knowledge as much as I can.
