Hi all! I was just wondering if there was anyone else here who was planning on going to Mercy in Fall 2010? I mailed my deposit last week and filed my FAFSA today. I excited! I know Shadyside probably has the best reputation of the three UPMC schools, but I just fell in love with Mercy when I went to take my PSB. Also, level one trauma center! I can't wait to do clinicals in the ED.

I am glad to see someone who is also starting at Mercy in the Fall! I applied to Shadyside and Mercy, and I made the decision to attend Mercy based on mamy personal factors. I know Shadyside is viewed as the better school, but I am sure I will receive a great education at Mercy!

There are so many things I have to do, like my background clearances, CPR training and physical exam. How is the process going for you? Are you going to be a full time student?

Yay! Another Mercy student!

Luckily I already have all my clearances and my CPR, so all I have to is my physical. I need to dig out my vaccination card so I can see what immunizations I need.

Hope to see you at orientation!

Wow, how did you already have those things done?

I'm an EMT-B so I have my CPR from the AHA, and I worked for a YMCA with children so that's how I have my clearances already.

Hi Annie. I wanted to let you know that I created a Facebook page for Mercy SON class of 2012. Feel free to add it if you want, and tell anyone else you know that is starting this past Spring or upcoming Fall. Shadyside has alot of members, and I think it's time that Mercy appropriately represents!:yeah:

Hi there! Yep, I'm going to UPMC Mercy this coming fall too. I am nervous and excited! I have been looking foward to doing this for quite a while now. :) I think I am leaning more to the surgical side. I guess we'll see!

And btw I think I am all ready too... got the cpr done, vaccinations (just needed the hep b), clearances, mailed in my college and highschool transcripts, references.... Last year I applied to UPMC Shadyside. I called to make sure "they" had received everything (when after a few weeks I figured I should have heard whether I was accepted or not) and I was informed that they did not receive my highschool transcripts. It was summertime and the secretary for my old highschool was on vacation so I could not get another copy. I missed the deadline. Keep in mind I graduated highschool almost 20 yrs ago, and Shadyside had my college transcripts. So I missed going last year. I figured that whole episode was a sign that I did not want to go there. So I did a little research and came up with UPMC Mercy. I loved everyone I've had contact with from the first minute. But this time I didn't take any chances. I gathered all the required attachments (references, both transcripts..everything I needed) and sent them all myself...as one complete package, rather than having my references, the schools, clearance departments send this info separately. Then I emailed the school and asked for confirmation that they had indeed received everything. Over-kill? Maybe. But at least this time I know I am attending school this fall! Yay! :D

there is nothing wrong with being a little neurotic when it comes to school! I did the same thing, and now I'll be starting in the fall, so I guess it didn't hurt!

I'm excited about our upcoming orientation! I ant believe it's in two weeks from friday! I am interested to see the diversity of our class! I'm 29, so I know I'll probably be one of the older ones, lol!
