  1. And btw I think I am all ready too... got the cpr done, vaccinations (just needed the hep b), clearances, mailed in my college and highschool transcripts, references.... Last year I applied to UPMC Shadyside. I called to make sure "they" had received everything (when after a few weeks I figured I should have heard whether I was accepted or not) and I was informed that they did not receive my highschool transcripts. It was summertime and the secretary for my old highschool was on vacation so I could not get another copy. I missed the deadline. Keep in mind I graduated highschool almost 20 yrs ago, and Shadyside had my college transcripts. So I missed going last year. I figured that whole episode was a sign that I did not want to go there. So I did a little research and came up with UPMC Mercy. I loved everyone I've had contact with from the first minute. But this time I didn't take any chances. I gathered all the required attachments (references, both transcripts..everything I needed) and sent them all myself...as one complete package, rather than having my references, the schools, clearance departments send this info separately. Then I emailed the school and asked for confirmation that they had indeed received everything. Over-kill? Maybe. But at least this time I know I am attending school this fall! Yay!
  2. Hi there! Yep, I'm going to UPMC Mercy this coming fall too. I am nervous and excited! I have been looking foward to doing this for quite a while now. :) I think I am leaning more to the surgical side. I guess we'll see!
  3. Hi There! I am beginning school this fall at UPMC Mercy. I have three kids I have to get off to school in the morning. My two oldest will not be a problem, but my son (7yrs) does not get on the school bus until 9am. I will be traveling to school from the South Hills, approx 10 miles--maybe a 45 min commute. Can anyone tell me what a typical school day "looks like" time-wise? What time do classes start, how much time do you typically need to make it on-time, and about what time does your day end? I imagine I will have to have someone get my son on the bus for me. Also, do any of you work while you go to school? I am not sure if I need to give my job notice. Some people (not in the profession) told me they think I need to quit my job, as it will be too difficult to juggle work and school. Thanks in advance, for your thoughts and advice!:)
