Hi! So glad to see someone else on here about this school. I did apply and am also accepted for Summer 2020 - however, since I apparently applied way, way too early (I applied in June), I haven't received all of the official stuff in the mail. I was told it would come after they finished up with the Spring semester.

I would be coming from out of state. I am from the East coast, but moved to the west coast for my job almost 3 years ago. The cost of living seems to be very reasonable, compared to the last 2 cities I've lived in.

Apparently scholarship applications for Summer won't open up until around March, I think they said. Being a 2nd degree program, I'm really not counting on much in terms of that.

Have you actually visited the school? Or are you also coming from out of state? I am planning to try to visit the school and check out the area (apartments and such) in Feb.

I am also coming out of state, NY. I didn’t receive any official things in the mail as well, but I did receive your email about Castle branch, which I think I’m going to start to complete in January.

in terms of cost of living, through my research I also have seen that it is super affordable. I’ve been looking into Drake West Village, it seems like it may be the best so far! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to visit the city before starting the program, because I have a lot of events coming up that require a lot of money ?, which is another reason why I’m looking into off campus student housing. Have you heard from anyone who is in or completed the program?

What part of NY? I'm from NY state originally! Interesting about the Castle branch part. I'll look into the Drake West Village part, thanks! I'll let you know all about my visit if all goes to plan and I get to go next month or Feb. Because of my work schedule and being on the West Coast, so 2 hrs behind Iowa, I am not able to attend any of their "Virtual Visits" - I was hoping to be able to do that. I definitely am planning to live 'off campus' - their on campus housing is actually 'regular' apartments in that non-students/anyone can rent from them, apparently. From what i see online they're quite a bit more expensive, and being there are so many good options (at least according to the internet) in downtown Des Moines and also just outside of dt (the financial aid counselor I spoke with said 10-15 min drive outside of downtown/away from the school and can get nice apartment with rents in the $500's!, crazy).

Cool for the FB group.. I'm actually perhaps one of the very few people who still do not have any type of social media accounts or a smartphone! Yes, I'm living in 1999 ?

I actually have spoken with one student who is current, just started (in her 2nd-8 week term). She said she likes it so far, but of course has little experience as of yet. I emailed her again last week - I'll let you know if I hear back. I think she'd be done with or wrapping up the 2nd 8 weeks by now.

I'll be moving from Seattle :) Are you going to try to visit before moving? To scout out the area, apartment hunt, etc? I am going to try to go end of Jan/beginning of Feb.

Did you get your official letter in the mail? Now I'm a little nervous. I applied way, way too early - like last June, and was told that I was accepted but wouldn't get the letter for awhile since there was almost a year before it would start and they had Fall and Spring to do first. I haven't received official anything yet... I emailed on Monday asking when letters would be sent but haven't heard anything back. I'm guessing they might be out of office for break.

I got an email, and then received a letter in the mail about a week after ? I would definitely contact admissions and ****** ******** - she has been very supportive in my questions!

I am thinking of possibly scouting the area sometime in April? How about you guys??

Excited to meet you all in the summer!!!

Yep, I emailed ******* a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet. I did not get an out of office reply, however, according to their school calendar they are on break from Dec 15 (I emailed day after) through Jan 5 - she has always been super responsive to me before, so I am hoping it's just that they're not there during the break and I'll hear when they get back. I also I hope I still have a spot! Since I applied sooooo early...I did get an email in August saying I had a spot and would get a letter when they started sending them out, but it'd be awhile. Since I have that at least, hopefully I'm still good. I am getting nervous though since it's getting so close and I have a lot to get ready before then - and I am SO ready to get started!!

I am still waiting to hear back from them and I just submitted all my documents by 12/15. Do you guys recommend calling admissions? I did not know that they already sent out some of their decisions and I am getting so nervous now.. if you guys don't mind me asking what was your pre req GPA and cum GPA? I am just really hoping I get in

I wouldn't worry. That wasn't that long ago at all. Also, I know the person who processes the applications or the program and sends the notices was out from Dec 16 through last Friday, so has only been back 3 days. I would give a little more time. Also, I submitted my application last summer, in June or July, and haven't gotten an official letter yet.

To clarify, I did get an email a couple of months after I applied saying I was accepted for Summer 2020 start but wouldn't get a letter for awhile since they had the Spring 2020 to process first.

Thank you for replying! Im sure they will get you the letter soon especially since they had sent out an email. Cross fingers!!
