Mercer university advice please!!!!

Published

Hello Everyone,

I really need some serious advice. I live in Atlanta ,Ga, and attending my last semester at GPC now.

I am trying to get into my dream school Mercer University. I plan on taking the Teas before December 2010, depending which date i get. Im currently studying for it and also taking my last 2 classes (Nutrtion and Philosophy). My main concern is, i want to start the nursing program fall of 2011 I know i can start sooner but im planning to get married before fall 2011, so i can get the wedding planning and honeymoon out of the way before i start nursing school. I wanted to know when is the best time for me to start applying and sending my transcripts and as soon im done with my Teas i will be sending that also. I just dont know if its too soon for me to apply now, since i still have 2 more classes left and my Teas.

Also i know the school is very expensive, but i wanted to know how i can go about getting scholorships. should i start apply for them now. Or should i wait to get accepted first. Also where do i go to apply?

Im sorry for all the questions, im so confused and nervous because mercer is so competive.

Also i would like to know what are some classes that are considered general elective, and what cultural apprication , can i take it at GPC?

This is my bacKground:

Microbiology=C

Eng1101=B

Eng1102=C

Abnormal psyc=A

Wow i have so many C's...would you guys recommend me to take those classes over and get an A? Or should i just forget about them and hope i get accepted?

A foreign language class is considered a cultural appreciation

course. There is another option as well that I can't think of right

now. I hope this helps.

Hello!

I would go in and talk to the admission advisor and to a transfer eval to see where you stand as far as your gpa. Then you can decide if you should retake those classes to make sure you can compete with everyone else who is applying with you.

Good luck!!

Unless you're super sure you're going to get an A in the classes that you got a C in you'd be better off not retaking them because it' wont help much. You may really want to take a higher level science class to help out your science GPA. I guess it depends on how Mercer does their GPA as far as science-gpa, nursing core-gpa, overall-gpa. I really really really think you'd be better off taking something like Organic Chem and get an A, or precal and get an A...the reason I say these classes is because they are weighted more than a regular 3 credit class. Some schools weigh them at a 5 (mine did), but usually Org chem and classes like that are 4cred classes.

Mercer told me that Cultural Apprecation can be a foreign language.

Where are you taking your Nutrition class? I heard that GPC did not offer a Nutrition class.

I know someone who got into GPC Nursing program with C's. I am not sure about Mercer. I would call the Mercer Nursing dept. They are super nice and very helpful.
