I wanted to start a thread so that everyone who has officially been accepted into Mercer's Nursing Program (GA Baptist College of Nursing) this Fall (Fall 2011) could meet and get to know each other. My name is Lindsay McKnight. I was accepted back in February and am so excited to start this fall. I recently graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health and will be moving to GA in July. My family lives there so I'm not too worried about the move, but I can't wait to settle in and meet everyone! I'm still working on submitting all of the paperwork needed (financial aid, immunization records, etc.) and am looking online everyday for the orientation dates but can't seem to find them. I contacted someone in Admissions and she said they were late on getting them posted, so hopefully we'll find out sometime soon when orientation is going to be! If anyone has any advice as to where they are living, I'd really appreciate it. I plan on flying out to GA in the next few weeks to apt hunt because looking online just isn't good enough. Hope to meet everyone soon! :)
Thanks for letting me know. I filled mine out in January and received my acceptance letter on April 22nd. I know they are swamped; I'm just anxious. One the MyMercer Page, you just clicked on the financial award letter section, right? I just want to make sure I'm not missing it. I hope you get the rest of your tuition money worked out. Do you think you will do the payment plan?
Just click on the Financial Award letter section and you can accept all or a portion of what has been awarded to you. The most you will get of "Federal Aid" is $12,500 per year regardless of income level. Needless to say this doesn't come close to cover ALL the costs to attend each year. The rest will have to come from other means such as HOPE, out of pocket, private loans, etc. I don't think I will do the payment plan, at least not the first semester. Although I am thrilled to have been accepted by Mercer I wish I would have know about the max of $12,500 sooner so that I could have use that in determining which Nursing school offer to choose or been working all along to save up.
Hi everyone,
Anyone get their financial aid package yet? I'm still waiting, although they said I should have a letter going out this Friday. I'm just wondering if anyone got awarded anything more than federal aid?
Also, Robine- I was going to wait for the orientation to think about pda's, etc. In other nursing programs I've read that they will require a certain pda or at least that you can run certain apps. I don't think I'm going to get a new computer (I think mine is fine for now), but I may get an iPad...
Je88,
My financial aid package was just posted today on the MyMercer page! I haven't gotten the hard copy in the mail yet. I did receive some federal aid and am eligible for student loans. I did receive $7000 GBCON Merit Scholarship for academic standind a $1000 Scholarship from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation. So excited!! I have been stressed about the money side of things.
In regards to the PDA, I have a IPhone 3G right now. I'll have to see if that will work. My laptop is old though; I definitely need an update. I am researching the IPad also or there is something similar made by BLACKBERRY I have been told that had ADOBE Flash on it where IPads don't have that.
I can't wait until orientation. Are any of you guys bringing guests to orientation?
Hello,
My name is Jason and I will also be attending Mercer in the fall. I also thought about creating a facebook page for our class as I thought it would be a excellent idea and could be helpful throughout the year. I will be attending orientation July 19th and can't wait to meet everyone. Lastly, I did receive my financial aid earlier this week and did not know about the 12,500 max. Luckily, with my scholarship I have my tuition covered. If I had known about the max, I would have thought more about my other options as well but too late now. I am looking forward to the fall.
Hey everyone! I also finally received my financial aid. I got the max amount but, like everyone else has said, it doesn't begin to cover everything. I'm in the process of taking out student loans from Wells Fargo too since I've banked with them for so long. Hopefully it all works out because I don't want to have to get a 3rd loan from someone else.
I am so excited to meet everyone at orientation next Tuesday! I'm not planning on bringing anyone with me so it's good to know I wont be the only solo person there! I think a fb page would be great for us! Whoever ends up starting it, please find and add me!
Oh and I was wondering if everyone has figured out where they're living. I finally found an apt complex I like and it's only about 15 min from campus if anyone needs a recommendation! See yall next week!

I first saw it on MyMercer page, but then this past week I also receive it in the mail. Maybe they are sending them out in the order in which they received the applications?? I filled mine out in February.
