Starting a thread for any ADN applicants. This will be my first year applying to nursing programs. Already have a Bachelor's in Health Administration but GPA is only 3.35. Looking for others starting the process :).

It was very easy the Director does it all and they send you a new letter.
Thanks for the reply. I'm waiting on the program Director to reply so fingers crossed! If you don't mind me asking the reason for your deferment request? I only ask, cause my reason is personal and family related and that just happen recently.
I highly recommend incoming first semester students to read fluid and electrolytes by Chernecky. I did before I began and I scored high on the fluid and electrolyte exam most of class did poorly on. Use the Summer to learn the concepts because once semester begins, you don't have much time to get it all straight with the workload of everything else.

Did you study for pharmacology before school started as well. I'm told that that is one of the hardest parts?

No I didn't but I read the textbook. I have kids so I woke up every morning at 5am to read for pharmacology. I just studied fluid and electrolytes before the start of semester.

Fluid and electrolytes are the same Physio class? I wonder if nursing class is more details.
PrereqTaker89 said:Yeah more detail. Such as knowing what type of fluid you would infuse into a patient with diarrhea. Will it be a. Hypertonic b. Isotonic or c. Hypotonic
I heard my Physio professor said nursing class is more case studies. We did same thing in Physio class. Thanks for the head up. I will be reading a lot while I have nothing to do this Summer .

Hey Erin,
I myself is asking for a deferment, ( 2023-2024 semester) and I'm curious if they needed forms to be filled or what was the requirements, process, and or steps to be meet for an approval? So far I have emailed the program director assistant and she then forward my email to the program director and was wondering what the next steps looked liked based of your experience with the deferment process?
Thank you!
