Published

Hi everyone :) just noticed that they posted the day they are accepting applications on Merced's website! Who's applying? This will be my second try!

In the handbook it stated they reserve the right to revise program requirements and selection processing.

But yea I’d be upset and pissed off too if it was my 3rd time applying this year. Try and petition but most likely they will quote you that page ?

Yeah I totally get what your saying but this isn’t a minor change.

ugh I didn't get accepted either and this was my third time applying :(

Tomorrow they can change it to only points or make it first come first serve like it used to be back in the day. They can add more requirements. I know you’re upset. Just trying to help you see clearly through it ya know.

Im upset too, and it was only my first try. So I know you have to be what I call table flipping man. Sorry

The lottery system is a mess and I feel it’s a matter of time it becomes points only like Modesto, Stanislaus or Delta. Tbh.

Also — did anyone get a letter yet? Impatiently waiting for my mail man. :(

There’s always someone who gets the short end of every change. The lottery is bad for those who have high points and would get in if it was merit based. There are pros and cons to every system. I’m sorry you’re effected by the change! I am glad they could see where the 4th time rule was going. Eventually there would be no seats left for new applicants. Also, then it wouldn’t matter how well anyone did in their classes or on the TEAS...just meet the minimum and do the time and you’re in. I’m glad they didn’t let it get that far.

MJC is going to be 20% lottery as of next year. As long as you have a minimum of 60 points, you can qualify for their lottery selection pool. They are posting the new application next month and the application process will be February 2020 instead of May from now on.

Thank for the information!

No problem! Hopefully the new changes can open more doors for many of us!

I have a 59 with Modesto, I’ll have to look into how I can get that one freaking point ?

What’s that one class that’s different from Merced that is required at Modesto. Something with nursing. I can’t remember.

Don’t pay attention to the application currently! They are posting the new one next month, & everything will be worth a different amount of points
