Merced College Applicants Fall 2019 Spring 2020

Published

Hi everyone :) just noticed that they posted the day they are accepting applications on Merced's website! Who's applying? This will be my second try!

All of the 4th time students need to stick together and complain. We’ve applied 3 consecutive years with that rule in place. They should not be able to change it on us just like that. They should have to honor it for us since that has been a policy for us the past three years. It should be starting after.

I agree. It is very unfair that next year would have been our year and now they took it away. I am very upset.

I’m very upset as well. They need to honor the policy for everyone that has applied for the previous 3 consecutive semesters and then it should be ended after that. Its ridiculous that they can just change it on us how they did. I’m pretty sure if enough of us complain they would have to do something for us. They can’t just put us in a 2nd pool next year with all 4th & 3rd year applicants. It should only be 4th year applicants.

Exactly. I don’t understand why they are mixing 3rd and 4th applicants.

They are probably mixing them because how are they going to fairly decide what group of applicants gets “cut off”. It really sucks but not other schools hold that policy and I think it even said it’s subject to change at their will.

Not sure if you’re serious but I honestly think it’s worth a shot. Why not we have nothing to lose. If we’ve applied 3 consecutive years with that rule in place, it should be honored to us.

Then they cut the application window to just one day but I hate the fact that they were letting anybody drop their applications. Like it didn’t have to be the actual person applying. They should make the person show an ID and then be able to turn their application. I don’t know. I feel like there’s ways cut so many people so they won’t have this problem and have to change the rules so unreasonably.

I’m in! This is our future we are talking about. I’m not getting any younger and this is the only place I am applying so I have no other hopes anywhere else.

I don’t think they will change it again. Especially after they have already announced it. It’s not fair what so ever and it makes me very angry along with many other people. If I would have known this would be changing, I would have retaken my science classes and applied elsewhere instead of worked full time & waiting to get in. Not cool at all.

We won’t know if we don’t try. They need to know that this is unfair to all of us 3rd time applicants.

In the handbook it stated they reserve the right to revise program requirements and selection processing.

But yea I’d be upset and pissed off too if it was my 3rd time applying this year. Try and petition but most likely they will quote you that page ?
